Super Jet question about pump vein

The vein for my superjet pump are out of a WR3 so it has the stock bilge inlet that the WR#'s had. It's a large maybe 1/2" hole on the side of the vein. My question is should I block the off but filling it with some JB Weld or capping it with a rubber grommet or can i just leave it alone-or will that cause performance issues?

I filled one with JB Weld, another with liquid metal. Any such product should work just fine.

fill it with JB weld then drill and tap it for a dual cooling fitting.
