allrighty well i was upset b/c you guys said it would take 30mins to an Hr's and first now your saying its 2hr's.

and i did do the most of the engine work. i did not have the right size wrench or puller to remove the flywheel so i had that done in shop. i jess i should have asked how long it would take and what they charge per hr. i assumed just to unscrew a few bolt and torwk it back down allong with cleaning wouldn't cost 95 dollars an hr. my mistake, i was more warried about the porting and other things getting done (WICH i love and done PERFECT) that i just asked to have the crank thrown in there was a last second thing, that i dident really plan on, nor did i plan on it costing $95... as thats why i spent 2 days in my garage puting everything ealts back in. its not that i couldn't do it, its i assumed it would cost maby $100 for the work. or i would have done it myself.

and the reason i was getting upset was not at the builder and his work, ( the work is perfect) it was b/c 10+ people said it would only take 30mins to an hour to do.
Problem with message boards is you are not always given the correct information because the person may not know what they are talking about or you did not give them enough info on what all needed doing........

take everything with a grain of salt.............

agreed, as i just wanned to know a simple answer, not make a big deal about anything. i don't have many friends that build engines, nor is there an engine builder close to me. this was the only way to ask a questing regarding how long it takes build up a bottom end..

I was the one who did the Work for David, We have been in contact since this thread started this morning. He was just asking a question like anyone in his position would. There is no problem, all is well.
Here is the criteria I do when I build a motor. The motor bottom end came to me with a damaged crank from a Hydro-loc (Bent rod) .
The bottom end was complete. The flywheel, stator, coupler half, intake. were still attached. Everything was disassmbled & Cleaned. All the case bolting threads were chased with a tap to ensure no damaged threads or debris. all gasket mateing surfaces were checked & inspected for true.
The new crank was inspected for true. Everything was reassmbled & torqued properly. This motor is being fitted with a ported cyl. It needs to be right!
Sure, anyone with a air gun can rebuild a bottom end in 20 minutes or so. But if a motor is to be togeather for the long haul, it needs to be done correctly. That takes time.

Crap, it took me more than two hours just to get the flywheel off the first time I tried. I'd say that with any reputable engine builder you get what you pay for. A shop doesn't get a good reputation by putting out 30 minute overhauls.

Man, I wish you were closer.

I would gladly pay 2 hours labour for all that.

See....all that stuff still attached. We started this thread thinking it was just cases and crank.
