Other Question for paint experts on cure time and my turfing issues

So I put it in a room with a heater. Had it at a surface temp of 85-90 for 4 days. I took a razor blade and can still easily peel strips of clear and pearl from the rail. It still smells of solvents when i peal the clear.

Does it sound like an adhesion problem?

First pick - clear pulled up
Second - rails where clear was pulled. Base coat still there.

i run an upholstery & fabrication shop so i deal with contact cement and paint all the time

everyone is mentioning a window for the back end of dryin on paint but there is a also times you have to follow when spraying the way i read the problem your having is one of a few things, but painting is a much science as it is art so there is no cut and dry answer here,
1. the pearl and clear coats where sprayed on the base way too soon and did not allow it to be fully dry (not cured) but dry before the pearl and clear were applied, but you would have evidence of super minor pinholes in the paint that are called solvent popping that would show evidence if that were the case. that would cause adhesion issues.
2. other end of the scale, most systems you have about a window of anywhere from 12-24 hours to recoat without having to scuff the base for adhesion. if you get outside that window and then spray over top of it without scuffing it wont stick. id almost bet this is what happened, although unlikely, if your painter is used to doing bikes and said "maybe ill let it dry longer since its bigger" he could have ruined the paint job.
3. the materials failed or were to old or a bad batch.

ive painted 20-30 skis and 99.9% of the time turf them with both the tape or with glue withing 3 days of them being painted and i do not have a baking booth to speed curing times. if it was all done correctly with good materials you wouldnt be having this problem and it sound like at this point unless it -3 degrees where you are waiting to cure isnt going to do much.

also open base coat had no strength if its not hardened chemically when sprayed it must have a top coat like clear over it, so if the paint job looks good everywhere but where you need to turf sand the base and possibly the primer off (primer may not be necessary tpo take off if it sands clean and feel solid leave the primer) and then glue the turf down. glue will not damage fresh or cured clear but it will eat through base coat that was not hardened chemically, which noone does if they plan on clearing, so its a good bet your base isnt hardened
