Question on Insurance

Just wondering if anyone has gone through what I am going through. I have a stock 99 superjet that fell of the back of my truck and got scratched up pretty bad and has a crack in the bottom of the hull now. I have not talked to my insurance yet but plan on doing so next week. Would like to know what I can expect the insurance to pay me, considering it's pretty much totaled by there standards.

They should pay you what's it worth considering you have full coverage on it. One thing they might ask you is when it happened and why your reporting it a week later...

Gotcha, just wondering if they will actually pay what its worth, or go by the blue book which is only around $1500

They should pay you "Market Value" print all of the local ads for overpriced RN superjets around your area and be prepared to show the insurance adjuster.

One of my insured skis got smashed on the rocks riding surf years ago, the insurance company offered to repair the hull or buy me a replacement hull if I did all the work swapping everything over. I took the new hull... Most of the insurance adjustors are human, just communicate with them.

Well for one, I don't see how a 99 rn is only worth 1500, but if it is, and that's all they want to pay you, I'd get a big list from all the for sale ads with superjets comparable to yours so you at least have an argument stating what it takes to buy/replace what you have. If you didn't purchase extra coverage to cover your "street price" compared to blue book, you might be screwed. Other option is to take what they total it out for, buy it back if they let you and go from there. Find out first if your able to buy it back. Sometimes they pay you what it's worth and a truck comes and gets it and it goes to auction

did you have insurance on the ski or just the truck?
if only truck is insured then you'll get butkus.
if boat has it's own insurance policy then you should get replacement value assuming you show valid proof of prices in you area.

They might not cover it cause it was in the truck not part of it. Example my friend had his dirtbike in the back of the truck and it got stolen he had full coverage on the truck but said they can't do anything cause it's not part of the truck.

You're right Al, I had something similar happen. The insurance company brushed out by saying that the bike in the back could have had it's own policy, therefore it wasn't covered by the vehicle policy.

OP, keep us posted and see what they are going to offer prior to showing them your local pricing on comparable skis. You never know, they might make you a good offer.
