quick oil question klotz vs amsoil

Stock motor I would run pennzoil marine at 14.98/gal Walmart...

I think oil is oil,
I tore apart the top end on my friends ski back in 02 because he had been running it 7 days a week all summer since he bought it in 90. There was not enough wear in the cylinders to warrant a rebore and he really didn't care to spend any money on it so it right back together with the original pistons and rings and I believe it is still running today although it doesn't run much anymore.

And that is using the cheapest shell oil fron Canadian Tire Corp. at 15/gal

the difference between the two is when you tear your motor down, there will assolutely no carbon build up anywhere with amsoil. we run both oils around here but most of us just use klotz because it can be had in bulk easier and cheaper.

The difference between a good oil and a cheap oil will become apparent not during normal circumstances, but during marginal and abusive conditions. Such as lack of cooling, screwing up the mixing ratio, and other such stuff.
A friend of mine that uses 927 ran his stroker motor without cooling for a few minutes. The engine was fine.
Someone else premixed Dominator at 100:1 into his oil-injected Seadoo as a safety thing. The oil injection failed and he ran it for one or two weekends without doing damage to the motor.

IMHO, those are the circumstances where expensive oil proves its worth.

same thing happened last year with my RN, clogged cooling line at the races (i loaned my ski out), when I got the thing back the long exhaust hose was a crispy critter and toast. He had done freestyle and some racing that day not realizing it was not cooling. Compression is perfect at 185-190 still and no issues, I have been running Dumonde Z1 at 40/1.
