Super Jet Quick one re; Superjet bearing housing replacement.

Just about to replace the midshaft bearing housing on a SN Superjet. It's leaking and there is about an inch play in the shaft and the movement is in the shaft and the coupler.

Why is there play in the shaft. What has broken behind the housing allowing the movement?
The housing is not stopping the shaft from moving back and forth so what else is broken.
I'd rather do an hour in the car with the right parts.

Is it simply a matter of moving the engine forward and fitting the new bearing housing? That easy??

Cheers.

Yeah, I just received air freight today, with a new housing complete with bearings.

I can see from a cut view pic that there are two bearing on the pump side of the housing with a circlip.
What has come lose to allow the play back and forth in the shaft.... is it a matter of moving the engine forward
sliding the shaft out of the bearing, replace the bearing housing and the fitting the engine back in it place?
