I talked a buddy into buying a superjet last year so he went out and grabbed a brand new one. After riding it for a season he decided to start on the slippery slope that is customizing. This spring he ordered a new B pipe, BOB footholds, and a bunch of miscellaneous goodies from Blowsion and dropped them off at my place.
I have to express how much I LOVE working with new skis and new parts.
Here are a couple shots of what took place.

The instructions for the BOB holds where (IMO) terrible, they proposed filling in the gap under their holds with a piece of filler board and a TON of thickened epoxy. I ended up chopping off most of the foothold buckets except the upper, front and sides. The buckets and backer boards where glued in with thickened epoxy then the tray was closed up and reinforced with 3 layers of 1208 biax graduated in the foot area and a mix of 8oz E glass and 9oz S glass on the rest all died black. Instead of cutting off the rear of the gunwales like the Ski Clinic suggests I molded them in, leaving a more stock looking install and not having to effect any of super clean gelcoat on the ski.
We also added ODI grips, blowsion bars and throttle, blowsion handpole spring, Worx intake grate, limiting rope, and a minty new B pipe. Not sure when they started but FPP now ceramic coats the exhaust chambers so it looks very nice compared to the grey PC they used to use. Had to remove the tamper caps and rejet/tune the carbs.

I was hoping to talk him into doing the bottom of the tray in black turf but the orange looks pretty good (for now). Luckily I was able to get my wife to do the turf so it turned out great, there is 25mm underpadding in there as well.

Thanks guys, he had some pretty grand ideas including an aftermarket waterbox, RRP pole, head, etc. Hopefully this winter I will get a chance to finish it off, I didn't even get to put a bilge in it due to the close proximity to the WI Dells Freeride. I think he underestimated how much it would actually cost to do all this, especially buying all new parts.

Glad to see you didn't go that route, as you probably know, resin by it self is weak and heavy, kind of dumb that ski clinic wants you to install them that way.

Ski looks killer!

Yeah, I shut the video off at that point. I used microballoons and 1/4" chopped strand to thicken the epoxy so I like to think that it has some sort of structural integrity but didn't want all the extra weight and to burn up that much resin. When I glued the buckets in I added thickened epoxy to the back of them, then stuck some wetted out biax mat to that, then added thickened epoxy to the hull side to mash it all together. The part I didn't really like is the holds don't exactly fit a superjet hull very well (the reason I cut so much off of them) so getting the bucket to sit 100% flush against the inside of the hull was difficult (would have been even more so if I left the bottom and backs of the holds intact). This combined with the fact that you don't know exactly where those backer boards sit when you are trying to line up the aluminum plates on the outside of the hull (to make your cuts) stressed me out a bit since any void could result in water seeping into the hull/foam. I lucked out and landed on the backer board material and had good adhesion all the way across it. After cutting the slots in the sides I went back with thickened/died epoxy and sealed up the areas I cut through, I feel that backer material may have the ability to soak up moisture in the future so I sealed it all in the best I could.

What's your plan for the steering. I've got a 14' coming in soon for footholds, pipe, head etc and he wants to do steering too.

I'm not up to date on the 08'-up steering conversions.

The owners plan was to put an RRP pole on it so I was going to swap out the steering cable for a pre '08 at that time. Not sure which way he wants to go at this point, might buy a used pole and shorten it and install with the pre 08 cable. I don't know if there is a good solution for using the stock pole, or cable other than the usual minor tweaks but this thing needs way more throw, it steers like a dump truck.
