Race gas... Methanol... Avgas even??

I run BP 98 over here with 210 compression and have done for years ,never had any dramas with my motor at all ,our fuel in Australia is very good quality, all the guys I ride with do also ;):)

A lot depends on how you ride and the rest of your setup. I like to be safe, so I'd suggest avgas (which tests around 106 or 107) or 110 race gas. Any alcohol draws moisture so methanol, ethanol or any mixture isn't the best option for watersports.

Av gas and race gas of the same labeled octane have many differences as they are made for different applications and qualified in different ways. They have different vapor pressures, specific weights (often need to up size jets for AV compared to race) and contain different additives.

I personally would (and do) buy 110 leaded race fuel and mix down to the required rating.

But as @Andrew1289 mentioned, if your looking to save as much $ as you can with a small performance compromise, another option you could look into is adding either xylene or toluene, or a mix of both to premium. Depending on costs at the time, (no idea about Australia) it can come out cheaper than buying race fuel, although it could come out close to AV gas in terms of price and performance compromise.

What do you plan for indicated compression? Have you already installed the new parts? As many have mentioned, your set up and riding style can change your fuel needs.

ive personally run avgas in my 210psi 550 reed engine with no issues.. the LL stands for low lead as mentioned earlier.. the lead in the few is has great detonation resistance and stores for long periods of time without going bad.. its also cheaper typically than any race fuel of similar octane rating.. the only downside to avgas is finding it locally that will sell it to you.. youll have to find a small plane air field that has it..

There is a lot of good info on av gas, just pull up google and search. It will not make the same power as a 100 oct fuel sold by vp or sunoco. If you pull up the master table on the vp site, you will find the fuel they sell for aviation has a lower specific gravity. While this is only one difference there are many many more. Av gas works when you are in a pinch or if your budget does not allow for the higher priced fuel. If av gas is cut with some pump fuel, you will get some of the performance back.

My tpe 1105 is running a 50/50 mix of 110 and 93
I did attempt to go to straight av gas because it was cheaper and it ran ok until I started to do multiple tricks then it started running away
So from experience tune for what you run and stick to it so as you may know I swapped back to 110 and 93 and my boat is super happy about it

Straight av gas I would need to actually jet up a size or 2 so yes gas is gas but it runs totally different even if the octanes are the same

Something to consider since you in Australia, our 100 octane is like 110 octane or something to that affect with your rating system. My CBR600 says it needs 93 octane on a sticker but thats European rating, the owners manual that is US specific shows 87 octane using the US rating system.

Im thinking I might put in the 44cc domes, which will take it to 215-220 psi. @2HIGH4U says that hes been running bp ultimate 98 oct with 210 compression for years. If i mix in some toulene for a tiny bit more octane I should be on the money. Does this sound right or am I completely off the mark? Is the increase in power from the higher compression worth it?

Well i don't want to be a party pooper, but unless you are really dead serious about competing - why don't you adjust your compression/timing to your wallet?
Im in a bit of the same boat as you, the gas and race gas prices are really high in Denmark, although the VP fuel is a bit cheaper, its still to steep for me. Unless i would run a set of domes for race gas with the race gas for competition (only down side, is you will have to adjust your eninge/pump and ignition to this)
My point is, who not run a "safe and affordable" setup, like 180-195ish psi and max of around 30deg static timing, then run a 98 RON fuel. Im running that setup in my boat, and run Vpower 99 RON

You won't hear the detonation until its too late, not worth it to skimp on octane. Just put pump gas domes in it.

Google it.. I did some research on it a while ago. From what I recall, toluene is quite expensive itself and not worth it.

https://www.boostane.com/

This stuff works. I have no experience with it on two stroke Jetski engines but have done testing with it on a supercharged big block Chevy based engine on the dyno. On 93 octane we were showing signs of knock (using a knock meter) at 6-7psi of boost. Mixed boostane at their calculated mixture to turn 93 octane into the 97 octane. At the calculated 97 octane we were able to run 10psi of boost with no knock.

It is hard on the spark plugs, as is some of the race fuels on the market. The boostane also leaves a orange color on the plugs making plug readings tougher.

We have a few customers that started using it in their performance boats this season and my dad runs it in his personal 350sci verado boat. Have not seen any ill effects from it yet.

The only issue I could see with using in a Jetski is how well it stays suspended in premix gasoline. They claim it not to be a problem but I have no personal experience with it in the Jetski application
