Pump bearings felt great when I had it apart...going to tear it down today, fire it up without the pump and grease up the splines.....

isn't there an O ring that goes in the impeller to stop slop? Maybe that ripped during install.

Driveshaft is (was) straight when I had it apart.

I would say fire it up immediatley without the pump and then we will know for sure. Bring it over. I'm here all day with inlaws as sitters so we can hook her up to the hose and let her rip for a while until we figure it out.

blown pump bearings right? My buddy didn't catch it in his 550sx just chalked it up to being old. The entire pump was trashed. The impeller and wear ring ate one another and the loose bearings blew out the back of the stator section. It also took out the mid shaft carrier.

My SXR just developed a good rattle the last time I was out. Come to find out that my waterbox was getting too hot and melted through the foam and was touching the hull. Could it be the pipe or something rubbing?

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
I heard kawi's rattle a lot... I'd get a superjet motor in that thing... :p

good luck man... hope you figure it out with the pump removed.... gremlins suck

My very loud rattle turned out being the coupler cover. The bolts bottomed out leaving the coupler with about 1/16 to 1/8" of play. Rattled horribly. Washers as spacers and all is quiet, still vibrates like hell, but that just the nature of the beast!

hmmmmmmmmm. can't see anything rubbing. Water set up is exactly the same as it always was....pipe is pretty cool.

Maybe you have a bad motor mount. But you did just put that pump together, right? Maybe there is something wrong in there.

Have you check the motor mounts? My husband's Ski use to rattle and vibrate. He aligned the pump several times. Never stopped. Finally he pulled the motor for a rebuild and discovered a broken motor. The rubber had sheared. New or Used, Parts fail without warning sometimes.

Its the pump for sure. No rattle at all without the pump hooked up. ...Ordering an entire pump rebuild kit from my brother.

I am also doing carb rebuilds...I had a little free rev on the trailer without the pump hooked up and the flame arrestor off.......Good thing it still has the choke plates...choked it right out.

Pump bearings in the SXR's are notorious from going bad. Me and Chris bought our SXR's the same day, HIN numbers are consecutive. My ski has no vibrations. His rattles like a pissed off rattlesnake. He has a fraction of the hours that mine has.
