Rattle can paint on my ski

My 96 superjet has looked like crap since the day I bought it. My ski sits on the swim platform of my boat for 6 months/year and it shows. I painted my ski with rustoleum appliance epoxy and top-flite lustrekoat model paint. The hull below the bond-line was painted with appliance epoxy white, the pole with appliance epoxy black, and the hood with dove gray lustrekoat.
I estimate $75 in supplies.
Hull - 7 coats and 5 cans. Pole, 6 coats and 1 can. Hood 4 coats and 2 cans
I'll bump this thread in 6 months and give an update with how the paint is holding up.

More pics.
I'm going to apply the same graphics as sflsurfrider once the paint cures. I ordered the same kit with king blue (darker).

Not to be insulting or anything...but why pick a grpahics scheme that someone already has? As good as exotic is you should have them do you one up. One of the COOLEST thigns about graphics is that it can make you diffrent

The gel-coat on the hull is a dirty white. I always hated how the bright white hood clashed. (you had to see it in person).
The graphics kit should bring everything together (I hope). I've always been a fan of white/gray/black/blue color combo.
I'll post picks when the graphics are applied. The ten day forecast for Mn shows snow and 30/40 degree temps :(

I'm poor. They told me the original for this package was $800. I had a few ideas about changing the design. After they said its $75/hour for custom work I changed my mind.
Also. That kit is $250 with "exotic signs," $350 without. I ride in Minnesota and sflsurfirder is obviously in Florida. We're 1800 miles apart.

So you painted the hood grey because you didn't like how the whites on the hood and hull were slightly different? That doesn't make any sense. Now the hood definitely stands out.

I don't mean to be a d!ck, but the hood looks like it has been coated with a primer and you never got around to painting it.

In my opinion I think it would look 1000X's better if the hood was also white especially if you're using SFL's graphics kit. That's just my opinion though. I would think about it before you apply the graphics. It'll be too late then.

Geez!
My local forum on pwctoday is giving me the same grief. I'm done painting! The gray is staying. Maybe you'll change your minds after the graphics are installed.

Hey man it's your ski. I was just giving you my opinion as I hope people would do the same for me.

Keep us updated on the build.

Yeah, I'm not slamming either but liky Fly said. Just not fealing the gray hood. Contracting colors and coola nd all but when tis a perfect outline of the hood and not something abstract...it def takes away

Seems like an SFL 'tribute' boat would be worth less. :dunno:
Just kidding, I do like the color combo and design. but if it was me I'd get red/black, silver/black, etc. insted of the same blue/black.
Be sure to put up pics of the finished product.
