Rattle can paint on my ski

6 coats and 1 can.

The only time I've got good results with rattle cans is when the job is big enough to start with a fresh can for each coat. No matter how I've tried to clean the nozzle the spray pattern is shot on the second or third use..

Whats the secret..?

Not sure, the appliance epoxy dries ultra slow and re-coats are every 30 minutes. The lustrekoat dries ultra fast and re-coats are every 2-3 minutes. I didn't have any problems with either nozzle.
Maybe you're climate has something to do with it? It was 40 degress outside when I painted, but I ran my turbo-heater to bring the garage to 70.

That Rust-Oleum black epoxy dulls out when exposed to water. I think the can states that it is not recommended :|. Im having a hard time finding Krylon which is good in all conditions.

That sucks about the black epoxy paint. I'll update this thread with how it holds up.
Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to change my hood back to white. What was I thinking painting it gray

There ya go. Now ya see the light. I think it will look 1000x's better. Also have you thought about using SFL's graphics, but with different colors? I really think a black-red-grey or a black-yellow-grey in the same graphics scheme would look reallyyyyy good.

I ordered the kit over a week ago with king blue so I'm probably stuck with it. Thats fine, my sea ray is blue and white so the ski will match. I read good things about the appliance epoxy...never heard about the black before though

Nice job with the paint and you can not beat the price:biggthumpup: . Can not wait to see the end result. I have a local guy with a vinyl cutter and we tossed around some ideas but we finally went with paint. There are alot of options with vinyl and you can always change it next year with minimal effort. Not so with paint.

Looks good. That is what my next paint job would be if I need one, rattlecan. The paint just gets destroyed anyway.

yup, that why I went throu about 3 paint jobs (actually went through 3 different hoods, repainted the ski 2 times because of the change). They gonna get scratched, all those nice turf jobs are nice, but if you really ride your ski hard you are going to tear the turf up anyhow........ not worth it unless you builing a "Show Boat"......

yep. I have to redo something to my turf each tear. I really suck at turf or I just like to ride it too much. (not possible)
Spraycan paint is the way to go on a "dailey rider" haha That is what I will do unless my buddy wants to paint it for cheep each year.
