That's not to bad for racing what size mother are you going to have in it
My mother doesn't really support my jet ski habbit. lol
It has a stock 701 that has been bored .25mm over. If you look back in the thread a bit I list all of the details. I've changed a few things since then, but for the most part it's all the same.

The footholds are race legal, that's why I picked the crash holds. I made some foam plugs that go in place of the holds. When the plugs are in it's pretty much the same as stock, they take up the whole void made by the footholds and they are turfed to match the ski. I'll post pictures of that later if I remember. Maybe if I get bored tomorrow I'll post up more about my build.

If you have footholds technically you need to plug them. I have raced with them and nobody going to say anything. At WF they most likely would say something. No benifit to having them on a ski while racing. Actually mess you up. I like to place my feet against the sides. Bit none there with footholds.

I only use the holds for freestyle and freeride. When I'm just rec riding and racing I don't have them in the ski. I actually finished this ski in April 2013 It just took me a while to finish this thread. I raced the ski at finals and I passed tech with no problems.

Here is some more progress. I decided to upgrade my carbs from the stock 38s to dual 44s. I got the carbs, manifold, and reeds from a blaster 2.

The dual 44s were a huge gain over the stock carbs. There was more power everywhere, especially the bottom end. They burn a little more fuel but the performance gain is worth it.

You can really see a difference between the 38s and 44s.

A few weeks before I installed the carbs I entered jm very first jet ski race. It was a ton of fun. I didn't do the best, but I still had a blast. Here is the ski down at the Parker, AZ race.

The tray is 21" wide but the turfed area is 19" wide. The foothold track is 1" wide on each side of the turf.
The tray is so big that I didn't know where to put my feet when I first started riding it. Now when I ride other peoples skis it feels like I'm on a 550. lol. The wide tray is good and bad in some ways. I do like all of the different foot positions, but it actually kinda makes the ski more unstable in some ways.

I've been neglecting this thread for a bit. Now it's time for some updates. Over the past few months I've been very busy getting ready for this upcoming season.
Since winter was in full swing I decided to rig up some hand warmers. I should of installed the warmers a long time ago. This is probably one of the best mods on my ski. You don't realized how cold your hands get until you have some warmers.

Then it was time to freshen up the paint for next season. All of the sponsor logos came off and the ski was buffed and waxed. It looks much better all shined up, but it sure does look naked without the logos.

While I was buffing the ski I had my buddy make me some new loos for the 2014 season. This year I'm riding for:
Crossrut Motorsports
Berad photography
Jetpilot
Epic industries
Novi tec
Riva racing
Jet lift
Hydro turf
Dasa
Racing
Competitive crankshafts

All of these companies are what keep me going. They make some great products and I was stoked when parts started to show up at my door.
Novi tec was the first to send me some goodies.

These new 46s should wake up my ski. They make my 44s look small.

And then some more boxes came in the mail. It was like Christmas.

Riva sent me all of the oem parts to keep me going throughout the year.

I was amazed by how fast I got my oem parts. Riva had everything I ordered in stock. That's proof that they are the biggest and best oem watercraft parts supplier.

Dasa racing also came through and sent me a beautiful manifold to go with my new carbs.

This new manifold is awesome. It comes setup for the best reeds on the market and the speed plate uses O rings instead of gaskets. That makes jetting changes super easy.

Along with the new parts I got the new logos. The ski is looking better than ever for this year.

I'll have some more posts and pictures soon.

I don't have a good way to measure speed. The gps app on my phone sucks and I don't have a radar gun. I actually plan to order a radar gun sometime this week. I think it would be nice to actually know where I'm at. The only thing I have to measure speed is engine RPM. I pretty much get the same RPM from any carb, but the larger ones have way more bottom end.
Here is what I get out of them.
Dual 38's 7,000-7,100
Dual 44's 7,100-7,200
Dual 46's I still haven't installed the carbs. Hopefully I get to try them next week.
I didn't post up an exact RPM for each carb because it seems to vary. It all depends on air temp, water temp, pipe settings ect. But you get the general idea.

From what I understand the carbs are not the limiting factor on my engine when it comes to peak RPM. 7,200 is not bad for an untouched cylinder. I think porting and a dry pipe would really bring the numbers up, but this is not a strict race ski. I like the motor the way it is, it's a great rec setup.

I will say size matters when it comes to the carbs. It's a night and day difference going from 38s to 44s. I recommend that upgrade for anyone. I'm hoping the 46s with the intake manifold give me an even bigger gain.

I love that Epic Ind. logo...one of the best I have done!

Good luck this season!

I need to get out and wash and wax my ski.

The logo looks sick. I get tons of compliments on it. I actually think you emailed it to me. Chris had his computer guy send it over.

There is more to come on this build. I just need to find the time to do it.

Have you installed the 46's yet? How much top speed/ low end did you gain if any?
