SXR Rebuilding sxr carbs, looking for tips

Location
edmonton
Hey guys me and my buddy are both rebuilding the carbs in our sxr's this weekend, we picked up rebuild kits from Mikuni and are just wondering if there is anything we should watch for.. havent worked much with carbs at all and just looking for some tips.
Thanks

Not quite advice on the rebuild side. If you dremel out the small step around the throat of the carb at the bombsite level you will gain some nice hp, a slight rejet or block the crossover will be needed too

Sounds like these guys are newbs to carb rebuilding, I would NOT try any MODIFICATIONS to your carbs if you don't know what you are doing!!!!!!!!!!

My advice, take your time. Lay out everything on a CLEAN work surface and lay the parts out in order so you know how they go on/go together.

Count your screw turns (how many turns to close) for high and low speed and write it down so you can set them back to where they were.

Should be quite a few threads on here and pwctoday with step by step guides. It's not rocket science, just take your time, be patient, clean em until they sparkle with air and carb spray.

You guys should dissasemble everything on both sets of carbs, put them in a bucket, shake them around and then try to put them back together.

If this is your first time and you have 2 boats, You might think of only working on one at a time. That way if you get to a point and you can't figure out how something went back together you will have another boat and set of carbs to look at.

I recommend this also. I would say even just taking one carb at a time, so if you get stuck on how one goes back together you can open up the other one.
