Save your money on the SuperJet and just get the 550 as they're both embarrassingly underpowered and handle poorly. The 550 isn't overrated though so there's that.

Power of a superjet, weight of a 550.

I would actually go for a superjet if i weighed 190, i love my stock fx1 even compared to a piped square nose and 900+cc round nose.
Its really a matter of preference, try and find someone with a sj and someone with a sxr and ride both and see which feels better

Im guessing that a 550 isn't big enough and that the single carb sx isn't that great?

I am looking to do a little bit racing, but also a bit of freestyle. My 01 seadoo xp SU is just getting boring though... I can only go 70+ for so long lol.

if you had the cash and wanted to do freestyle and carve around on rails i would recomend a post 08 superjet. they have a different hull design that really carves, yet they made the hull light to... just my 2 cents..

Even though I am a PRO Kawi.. I agree with this! The first ride on my friends 08 was a dream! I was cutting hard and it rode great.. I am not a good rider, yet, I have no balance and it made me look like I knew what I was doing... The stock steering is way too slow, but easily fixed by moving the cable position..

in that case get a early 90's yamaha superjet - they can be had for ~$900-2000 depending on mods

don't bother with older Kawis, not worth it



If you only want to spend ~$500, your only option will be older kawasaki's. In that case, buy one and ride it (don't put ANY extra money into it)

1990-1993 came with a 650
93+came with a 701

for my first two years I was perfectly happy with a stock superjet 650- so if you want to keep it cheap I'd go that route and then upgrade when you want (and can afford) more

my first sj had a piped, proped, 650 with a protec cdi and head that ripped harder than my stock 701.

ive had 550 650 750 kaws and i picked up a superjet 2 years ago and will never go back superjet the way to go like most guys have said get a 701 and you will love it
