Reducing intake volume on 61x manifold....

I have a tall protec dual 38 manifold with spacers for 61x cases, its appears that their goal was to get the carburator further away from the reeds creating more volume in which then there would be more time to have fual and air vaporized ?? The shorter the volume the lessime to have air and fuel be vaporized right ..?? I am confused...

So you have a richer mixture less mixed but faster signal ?

Protec made their manifold to clear the hump on the stock reed plate. All other designs that did not use the stock reed plate had short inlet tracts.

I'm confused.

I have a 61x motor, ADA head on race gas, B pipe, stock manifold.
I'm pretty darn sure I need to go to an aftermarket intake manifold, then tune the carb from there. But which one? Spacer or no spacer?

This spring, I had THREE extra Wet Jet manifolds and I sold them off, because somebody got me thinking with their logic that they were'nt really as good as I always thought they were...now I'm thinking I shouldn't have.

Can anybody help with some GOOD info?
This oem 61x manifold can't be the best option out there...can it?

Yes,
Your correct you messed up by selling the best single intake manifold for the 61X engine other than duals.
This info is good, but not for you now!

People get soo hung up on the size of their carbs. They would be a lot better off buying a tach and learning how to bend their props.
