FX-1 Redwoods Fx1 Build

A winter project that got a little out of hand, planned on just cleaning a few things up then i found myself cutting out the tray. I found a bunch of leaks in the pump area and in the tray. Right now it has a kawi 650 pump mod (awesome), I plan on building a solid surf boat that is still fun on flat water. I will be reinforcing the whole ski, (engine compartment, rear gunwhales, etc.) I'm thinking of shortning the hull a couple inches as well.

here are a few pics of where i'm at right now, in one of the pics you can see the lowered pole bracket i made, i'm also working on a aluminum pole, similar to a goose pole.

I got a little more done tonight, still working on ripping the tray apart. I bought this ski with the 650 pump mod done, I found alot of leaks around the pump mounts. I'm kinda learning as I go, but i plan on reinforcing the pump area along with the inside of the gunwhales. Has anyone used aluminum as a base for the tray? I also reshaped the gunwhales to give it a little more shape.
The pole is in the beginning stages right now,
Comments welcome.

hey jesse great work so far man keep it up ,and the pole looks like its coming along nicely cant wait to see it on the water

For anyone doing the 650 pump mod, make sure the pump area is reinforced real good. ( I'm not trying to point fingers...steve)lol I don't think the pump area was leaking initially, but a little riding broke things up. Thanks for the comments guys, I've got a question for all u smart people, when I'm rebuilding my sides of my tray, can I use the solid pink insulation style foam to shape then go over that with fiberglass? Lmk what you think or if anyone has a better idea, shoot
thanks

yeah on reflection it needed re-enforcing, to be honest the 650 pump mod is very involved, more than people think, alignment and pump placement was a real pain in the ass... if i did it again id prob just spend the extra $$ and buy the bolt in blowsion pump

in regards to the pink insulation, you may want to check to see how that holds water? ive seen people do it simply with the two part foam, over fill then shape

Made a little bit of progress this weekend. Almost finished my aluminum handle pole except for the finish grinding/polishing. I also started on filling the bondline in the tray (no pics yet), next will be the reinforcement of the sides and pump area in the tray.
I weighed the hull without the hood at 74 pounds, hopefully this thing will be light in the end. Thanks for looking
