Yeah not much of an improvement in power on relatively stock motor. On benefit is when they break there are not chunks of metal bouncing around in your motor.

can someone explain the reeds, reed stops and valves a diagram of the whole setup or what job each has or does. i was ask if i wanted the valves too and i wasnt sure what that was i am used to big lock and small block chevys. tis is alittle different.

Reeds are one way valves that let air into the crank case but not out.

Stock reeds are metal. If they break, they damage the motor. Aftermarket composite (glass or carbon) reeds disintegrate and usually don't damage the motor.

Dual stage reeds and V-force reeds allow more air into the motor with less restriction. Dual stage are reeds on reeds (two rows, 2 per row). V-force reeds are basically 2 sets of reeds (4 rows) per reed cage.

Reed stops are the metal pieces over the reeds that keep them from flexing too far. They come stock and extend the life of the reed.

Reed stuffers fill the back side of the reed making a smooth transition from the round shape of the intake to the rectangle shape of the reed cage.

I don't know what they meant by valves, unless they were talking about the reed cages. It's a 2-stroke. It's nothing like your chevy. There are no valves on a Superjet motor except the reeds.

General rule is to buy the best overall package you can afford. Reeds improve performance but they do it by a small margin. Reeds come after high compression, pipe, ignition enhancers and props. Reeds improve performance, but don't blow your budget, because there are still better dollar for dollar purchases available.

I am no expert. I work with a limited budget. I collected a lot of parts and upgraded from full stock to full limited all at once. I can't say for sure which upgrade would be the best. However, if I were presented with your situation, I would buy a MSD enhancer ($200 used, $280 retail) and have my flywheel lightened ($50 by #Zero) before I bought reeds. I believe both of those would provide a greater margin per dollar over reeds. I'm assuming you are running 180psi 93 octane with that head. If you are set on getting reeds now, try to grab a set of reed stuffers with it. I got my reed stuffers from JM used for $22. Be careful buying used reeds.

any suggestions on some cheap good reeds. 61x protech head fctory pipe 44 single

Dual stage reeds, carbon ones are a few bucks more, screw onto the stock stops. Boysen makes decent stuff. Word is V-force is the best, but if you're on a budget, put a dual stage on the stock cage.

thanks guys get this. ski ran like crap. 3 turns on high screw to get fuel to spray. has a dead spot on throttle. ordered some jets went from 145 to 150 ran better iddled smoother etc. took reeds out and a found a bolt lodged in cage in which knocked out a reed. the same bolts that where bieng found floatng in hull when i purchased it. ski didnt come with a air cleaner for the guy said he never ran one. no gaskets either. so bolt was plugging part of the reed from bieng a big effen hole in which it would of ran real bad. so now go back to the 145 new reeds and gaskets. bet it will run better. like i said bought the ski and first time taking it out bolts where floating in the water. the same exact type of bolt. small stainless steal type. and yet have i found that type of bolt actually used on the ski. about 1/4 bolt stainless, half inch long.
