Nice pic. Jeff said his son, now 9, is getting pretty good at freestyle too... can't wait to see him in comps one day.

The look on his son's face is PRICELESS:woot:Out of all the jet ski legends I've gotten to hang out with, Jeff has to be the nicest, most humble, genuinely good guy I've met. One of the best things about a Surf and Turf event is there is a good chance Kamakazi will be there!

that is the truth:biggrin:Its the "FreeStyle" face. It's passed down from generation to generation.:haha:
Yes! Most people think it was Rick Roy. Kantz did it first AND used a boat wake to do it. People raised holy Hell about it too because he brought a boat into the Freestyle area to get the wake. And now....hmmmmm we are using 2 boats to aquire a wake. The man was well before his time. I would say 60% of all Freestyle tricks done today were done 1st by Jeff Kantz. It was an exciting time. You just never knew what he would bring next. You would just stand there with your mouth open totally blown away.
And....he was doing it on an X2!
If I am not mistaken he actually did it in Daytona or near there at a comp, the boat wake was at the WF 1992-93
I was there at that Daytona race when he first pulled the "el rolo" (I think thats when it was nicknamed). I believe I have a picture of it somewhere... (looking).I was told he did it here in Daytona off a wave at a comp. We need him to settle this for us...

(this was '92 or '93)
It was 1993 last rounds of the national tour and then at the world finals a large boat full of girls came by and set a wake for him. he did two roll off it. Jeff won Pro freestyle that year out of 19 total competitors with Ripper taking 2nd.
Rick Roy took 4th at the world finals that year with myself placing 7th. The year after that world finals was the year of inviting the airal barrel roll.
yes, whats up with him? I am wondering the same thing with the title "regarding" Jeff "kamikaze" Kantz
Even writing it down I want to say it outloud like chuck kuntz "Jeff KKammikaazzee Kantz", then followed by his AC/DC music he requested for compitition.
It's funny when I look back, that it was Jeff who started the Barrel Roll, but it was the barrel roll that made the stand ups superior to his X-2 stuff. I even switch from the X-2 to the Stand up.
