The weekend racing was great, and I'm ashamed to say it was my first race that I attended, but on the positive side we WILL be attending more in the future.

I do have some constructive criticism of the weekends racing on the freestyle side.

IMO, if you are having problems filling a field (Amateur Freestyle) it does not bode well to turn people away on Sunday because NO late registration.

Even tho two of the competitors on Saturday registered late, and one of the competitors on Sunday registered late (he was a racer).

On Saturday there were four competitors that competed, of which Edwin and Vince were not able to compete on Sunday. That would have left two competitors which is quite miserable.

There were two local riders, or which myself was one of them that were willing to compete on Sunday, but were not allowed to.

I applaud the HWT staff for letting the racer sign up for freestyle, but IMO they should have let anyone that wanted to register on Sunday to register.

Racing I can understand the NO late registration, for safety reasons, but that is not so in Freestyle.

My $.02

Wanted to thank everyone for coming out and competing this weekend. We had a good time watching you entertain us and the crowd. Freestyle is a bit of a work in progress. Let us know what u would like to see happen and we will do our best to work with all you riders to get freestyle back in full swing again. I know there are a bunch of you out there that could do very well in comps, so let us know what it would take to get you to one of our events. We wanna work with you to take freestyle to the next level.

See you soon

Double up is handled. It was part of our negotiations for that particular site. Unless there's a last minute change, we will be doing double ups for the freestyle competitors. It looks good as of now though.

Last minute registration will be looked into and a decision will be made and announced once we know what we wanna do about that. Now get those skis prepped and lets hit the water.

i think if you allow it, there will be more of a turn out in classes like freestyle, beginner and novice ski classes, and the smaller runabout classes people who are on the fence about showing up and competiting might be more apt to do so if they are allowed to late register

No he will not!
FWIW, Regions 5 and 6 have always allowed last minute registration for freestyle. It's not like there is a lot involved in adding a freestyle competitor, it's really just adding a name to the list :cheer:

I can understand them not wanting late registration for races. When they are trying to setup the race order there are many things that have to be considred ( riders in multiple class' not running back to back, how many riders in each class, if they are going to combine class', etc.) last minute additions can disrupt many things. I have seen it happen. Freestyle however would be another story, it just adds a name to the list.

If they had last minute registration, Donald may have competed or maybe not. Never know. He took his SJ out and practiced in the back during freestyle on Sunday. He is still a little intimidated in front of the crowd I think.

Im not sure who you are talking about? I let BLAIN SPOONER register on sunday and I dont remember anyone else wanting to register. Let me know who I turned away because i would like to appologize or have them contact me at 727-643-7647.

I will tell you one thing though. It was a mad house under that tent on saturday with late registration. It took me twice as long to set up and combine classes not to mention the added stress. Everyone needs to register early so we can minimize delays. On sunday we finished all motos and double freestyle by 3:30 pm and finished awards by 5:30 pm. We will improve at every race. The Hot Water Tour crew stepped it up and I cant thank them enough for doing such a great job. I also appreciate your input so we can make changes if necessary. Results will be posted tomarrow. Thanks agian to the crew, sponsors, and you for coming out. It will be a great season!!

Me, and it was two Ladies that made the decision under the tent.

Once again, it was a great day at the races, just a bit disappointing after rushing to put a motor together on Saturday and breaking it in on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

I will be there next time registered early.
