It's worth mentioning that ADA's billet cylinder kit no longer comes with the non-girdled head.

Why run a girdle head on a billet motor? I've got 1 billet Dasa and 2 cast Dasa motors , all without girdle heads .

Good point! It's only the OEM cylinders that have the thinner cylinder flange on the intake side. A cast Dasa motor would not need it but some billet cylinders come with girdle style bolts... I have 3 Able cylinders that run full girdle studs but instead of being external/exposed studs they run through the billet cylinder and that's the only option.

I like connecting nut girdle kits. When you remove the head, you're not loosening the cylinder from the cases. Examples are RIVA and Cold Fusion Heads.

Each style has its weaknesses, riva's girdle base bolts are known to break. The ADA style is the only way to guarantee that no stress is placed at the cylinder mounting base. All load is directly to the cases.

This is exactly why I have never upgraded my riva head. If I ever get and ada I will be reusing the hardware from my riva head.

It's not a problem really, it takes 2 minutes to check the acorns a couple times per year. Did you read post #45 about Riva hardware being known to break ? ADA is the true "sandwich the cylinder" type of protection.

Agreed. It isnt a common problem and can be related to improper initial install. We recommend higher torque specs than ADA (20ft/lbs. for head bolts and 28ft/lbs. for girdle nuts). After first couple heat cycles of riding, then recheck the girdle torque. Once a season or so after that, no biggie. Never had this problem personally or with any of our motors. It is just like rechecking torque on aluminum wheels on a car.

I've never re checked torque ever. Add a few pounds more than suggested like the maniac said.

You'll have no issues unless you have a bent driveshaft or crank. But at that point you should know since the teeth will loosen up in your mouth also.

Kind of unrelated, but I had an Ada flame arrestor adapter vibrate loose and fly off after a good wake jump yesterday. Remember to retorque those as well...im still looking for one of the bolts. I hope it didn't fall into the carb. Haven't heard any catastrophic noises so we'll see...
