Remove riva red pipe to replace starter?

So my son just ran my ski out of gas and decided to melt the post off the battery and fried the starter thinking it would magically fill up the gas tank. Ski has a reva red pipe. It was a real pain in the butt to install. Do I need to remove in order to replace the starter? I’ve seen lots of posts about modifying bolts and such to make the job easier the next time but can’t find anything about removing the starter. Sorry if this is an old topic. Any advice is appreciated.

Honestly, removing the motor is the easiest way to get to the starter. However it can be done with the motor still in. Just unbolt the four motor mounts, slide it forward and tilt it on the side as much as possible. But since you’re going that far, it’s not much more work to remove it.
