Removing/altering Rev limiter on Superjet

Just got off the phone with Impros talking about impellers. Got some recommendations on the prop I need, but he told me I should alter/remove my stock rev limiter before I do change out the prop. He recommended ProTec to do the job.

So I was wondering, are there any alternative to sending my black box out to have the work done, what they acutally changing when the box gets sent out, what experiences have people had with ProTec doing this work, and are there any other shops that people would recommend?

Be nice, I'm new to superjets, been on Kawis for the last 3 years

you could look at going a msd enhancer but if you modify the stock one i would go with the pro-tec it is ajustable so you still have a rev limit just safer i think

I did the disable mod, works fine, but I would rather have an adjustable one just to prolong crank life.

i did the adjustable one but its set wide open and i've never bothered to hook up my tiny tach to adjust it. probably just disable it if i do it to another one.

I am definatly leaning toward the adjustable one. i don't like the idea of my ski revving as high as it could go, especially in time where it could just be an accident or a mistake like leaning on the throttle or something stupid like that. or when you let a friend ride you boat

Send me your CDI and I will mod it to be adjustable for $50 if you don't want to tear into it yourself. I haved modded quite a few and it takes a couple of hours work and a few parts. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer keefer, but I have already cut the CDI open and soldered in a jumper wire via a toggle switch, so that I can turn the rev/limit on and off if needed.
