Super Jet Removing bond line rail SJ RN

I'm on a winter project of a rocker nose and wanna remove the bond line rail and cut down 1.5'' of the top deck. Has anyone ever tryed that? IYO, with sides reinforcment and an alu bar between them, could it be solid enough?

Is the rail helping in tight turns? Could the riding style be affected ??

Other advise? Many guys cuts the back rail and corners to help flipping. So I have to choose between flipping and handling? And if I only cut the vertical part of the rail and leave the horizontal part intact??

I cut the vertical part of the rail off only in the back and like it. Granted i cut 2" off the back of the ski at the same time so cant comment how much of the handeling different is just attributed to cutting the rail. Back seems more loose. I also put tubbiee on the front and this made the front hook better which probobly made the back more loose. Its all personaly preference with this stuff.

Check out a Superfreak, there is a larger (deaper) bond line on the rear sides than a stock SJ has. You CAN have it both ways; handling and fliping.

The rear of the bond line across the back doesn't really do anything, you can cut that off.

Don't cut off bond rail!!! I have none it and it affects the handling negatively!!! Especially the rear corners. Leave them on!!!

hahaha remember pinky 2? 1.5? or was it 1.68? Steins old hacked to hell XFT with no rear bondrails? For one picking it up SUCKED, and any time you leaned at all the ski was falling over. No saving it.

I don't think you have to choose. Cut the rear vertical section off and the rear corners (just enough to get around the radius ) . This will loosen up the rear of the ski. The more you cut from the rear to the front the more loose the handling will get. The freak has wider deeper rails that really make it stable. On the other hand other hull enhancements make it more easy to break it free..... Tems design IMO really is the best of both worlds. If you cut the whole rail off from front to rear it will be like riding a banana . The trend is to widen for stability..... Trim to taste.

Good info! On ozfreeride (link), they told that the rail makes the maneuvrability more unpredictable! Bad info to promote sales or what???

So the best idea is to just cut the rear and dont touch the corners?

go wider! cutting them off will make it handle like crap, wider makes it more stable
