Other Renting a stand up in mexico?

Does anybody know if it is possible to rent a stand up in mexico? I am going there for my winter break and I wouldn't mind riding some surf. Thanks for your time!

I was in Cancun two years ago and the one rental company had two superjets, a sn 650 and a rn. My brother and I rented jet skis and I specifically said I only would rent if I could ride the stand ups. He said I could, I just have to mention that to the rental manager once they gave us a ride to the spot where we pick up the jetskis. I don't know if it was a scam to get me to rent or not, but they had the standups, just said I couldn't ride them because I was too big for the 650 and the 701 had a broken exhaust.

I think I just read that it's closed now?

from their FB page (crazy Bing translation!):

Knowing that people like well blablater on SXM, we would like to inform you that the BooBooJam JETZONE is still open! We just let in under contract the party workshop mechanics and guarding (and sales) a Roman! Rental/school Jet arm part will cover this winter (in December and for the entire season) the rest of the time we are in Brazil to produce our jet hulls: the XS-Gravity (we have not left the island lol)... We are therefore open only the months of the season.
Year-round workshop and the caretaking is open with Romain Turgy!
Thank you to our CLIENTS and friends to respect these opening and these days of rest (for the guard).
Thanks in advance for your understanding!
You can always book your jet training courses arm for this winter...Ski ya X Slide Team and Family (Translated by Bing)

I don't know of any place that rents stand ups in Mexico, if one exists, the stand up is most likely someones personal ski which they would be willing to rent out. Rental business's usually are located in the tourist areas and cater to beginners so couch's are the norm. Also most tourist areas are located where there is little to no surf. I have traveled Mexico extensively and am fairly knowledgable of Mexico in general. Some places are sketchy and should be avoided while other areas are safer than the US. What part of Mexico are you planning to visit?

I went there 2 years ago and am going to Cancun on the 9th, where are you staying?.

You should go to the zoo there, it's a little sad seeing the conditions the animals are in but for like 8 bucks you can buy a bag of food and feed almost everything. We played with baby leopards there also.

The zip lining through the jungle was a lot of fun also!

Just wanted to add an "x2" for Kris & Fab in St. Martin. Incredibly nice people. If you find yourself on the island, ask any taxi to take you to Boo Boo Jam Bar on the French side. They're right next door (or they were when I was there in 2010).

Like I said earlier, in Cancun, one of the tourist rental spots had two superjets, they were leary of renting them to someone that has not rode one before. If you can take some proof via photo or something they would probably let you ride it. I was staying at Riu Cancun and it was one of the rental places just down the beach that had them. I was told there's even a freestyle show on the lagoon once a year.

Been there many times! Major tourist destination and a super fun party town. There will definitely be jet skis for rent, however I doubt any stand ups. unfortunately PV is in a bay and little to no surf gets in there. The closest surf is an hr and half drive to the North to either Punta de Mita or Salulita. I doubt you'll find any rentals up there though, maybe at Salulita? Either way if you're surfing, both are good surf spots with warm water and the sketch factor there is fairly low, especially if you stay in town. If you're plans aren't solid, then Like already suggested you might consider Cancun. There's a lot more to do there than PV and one hell of a crazy spring break party scene as well. Google the "Cenotes", Mayan ruins, and scuba diving on Cozumel or Isla Mujeres. Don't be afraid to get off the beaten path, as some of the best stuff is where the tourists aren't. Unfortunately Surf is usually small to nonexistent in Cancun also, but like mentioned you might even find those dudes that have a few stand ups for rent. Check the travel advisor for the sketch factor, I'm sure it pretty low.
