Freestyle Renting stand up jetski in Ft Lauderdale/Miami area

Hey guys,

I am really interested in getting into that x sport. Does anybody know a place in Ft Lauderdale/Miami area where I could rent a stand up ski and try it out?

Once sit downs became popular in the late eighties, rental businesses switched and got rid of the stand-ups. In Ft.Lauderdale someone was renting "lame" Superjets as late as 1992 if I remember correctly. That was on the Intercoastal at Sunrise Blvd:

Well thats too bad . I called most Yamaha dealers in the area, none had any stand ups. One of them even told me that Yamaha and Kawasaki are discontinuing their stand ups due to emission control for the 2 strokes and liability purposes in the USA???
Most stand ups I see for sale are 10-15 years old.. How newbies like me could just get a taste of that fun I don't know..

there is a place on islemorada (i think thats the island) its on the left on us 1 when you first get on the island you can see the docks and skis from the bridge they had 2 superjets there last time i payed attention when going by it

I called a few places in New Jersey looking to rent for my upcoming vacation. A few local shops had standups...for the workers to ride.

They said the liability was too high to rent and I could only ride their stupid couch on the designated course's....

My buddies are now all excited and want to try stand ups too, we will give u a call or stop by your place.

it is going to be hard at first, but stick with it. Ride as much as you can, ride with other STANDUP riders. Stay away from Charlie. opworm: LOL

Better be ready to swim! The learning curve is pretty steep for pretty much anyone but god is it fun once you get the basics down pat

Congrats, I bought mine the same way. Saw the locals riding them went and bought one, launched it on the way home from the dealer, rode for 30 min without falling. It was a pond. Then I got hooked. Now I need my daily fix

Actually, he is a good guy with lots of PWC/standup knowledge, he just tends to push the envelope when posting on internet forums.

Today was a blast . I got the ski, but did not have a trailer (the dealer wanted $800).. I had it loaded on my pick up truck. I was hoping to buy a trailer from a friend of mine today, but it was for 2 skiis, way too big and was all beat up.
I and two friends of mine went straight to Marcham Park to try it out . We looked kinda silly, unloading the ski from the bed of the truck and getting it into the water ..

Anyways, once it was in the water I did not spend too much time trying to get on it.

I must say this IS THE Sh*t )). I am totally into it. It was actually not to hard to stay on it and ride it.

Tomorrow, I'll look in Craigslist and try to find a good deal on a trailer, once I get the toy on it I'm back to the water .

Again, this is a total crazy f**n fun . The ultimate fun in Florida!

I am looking forward to meet with you guys in the area and learn how to ride properly, terms, tricks and all the good stuff. I am still a total newbie

Dont let a trailer hold you back. I dont use one anymore. Search "hitch hauler" on the site and see if that something you would use.

You should be able to find a single ski trailer for $250 or less. I picked one up for $75 and threw some new carpet and lights on it.

How do you put it and unload it from the hauler by yourself? I though about fabricate something like a stretcher with foldable legs, so i can just slide the ski into the trucks bed, but that would take time and i cant wait ..

Congrats on jumping head first into the sport! I can see your already getting the bug. The trailer you posted looks good, you'll need do a few mods to it like changing the bunk width and maybe shorting the tongue but thats stuffs easy. Be sure and hook up with a local crew for tips/advice, they'll steer you in the right direction. Congrats again!

welcome to the highly additctive world of watercraft!!

if you find yourself up in palm beach county, look me up! we ride out palm beach inlet every sat morning.
a few words of adivse, be respectful of others in the water and use common sense, dont ride alone.
also may want to invest in a electric bilge pump!
