Blaster Repair or replace hull?

Location
Orlando
My buddy's hull on his B1 was pretty thin. So thin you could see light through the bottom as if looking through a dirty window. Well it cracked while wave jumping a few weeks back. It basically split lengthwise just below engine coupler and its about 6" long. A local shop attempted to fix, but the repair broke again.

He wants to replace the hull. I think it was a crappy repair and told him we should repair it correctly from the inside and outside. He doesn't think we can repair it well enough to stand up to the abuse.

Opinions?

Fiberglass repairs should be done at a 12:1 scope, if the blaster hull is .325" thick there (it should be at a minimum, maybe .5" even) then the repair should span 4+" on either side of the break at least, that repair barely looks that wide.
Use epoxy and biax glass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N7YMr6E564
I say fix, blaster hulls aren't that cheap (but still pretty darn cheap)
