1991 sn sj. Me and my brother completed a sj build a few years ago. It ran great but kept taking on water. Before we knew it took on water it filled up and sat all winter with the engine bay full of water and we had to rebuilt it again to remove rusted bearings and water in everything etc. Now we have the ski running great but we have narrowed down the water to be coming from the built in exhaust pipe the runs from the engine bay to the rear of the ski.
We widened the standing tray on the back of the ski and we think he might have accidentally cut into the exhaust pipe when he was cutting the fiberglass to widen the area. We’re thinking it’s filling the rear of the ski and then water is coming from where the pipe meets fiberglass in the engine bay. he said he saw water squirt out from that area when running the ski with the hood off.
Has anyone here ever removed/ repaired/ replaced or bypassed that exhaust pipe. We are unsure how to fix the issue. Is it possible to drill out the rivets in the rear and pull the pipe out then repair replac or do we need to cut into the tray and remove all the foam?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks
