Replacement ring gear?

I took apart a gp 760 once with a spun ring gear. Ski ran funny. I went to strip it to part out and the center of the flywheel spun while the gear was locked in a flywheel lock when I tried to remove from the crank.

It was odd to me since ive never seen it happen before. Then again I don't deal with 760 stuff much so I don't see that type of flywheel often.

I don't understand the stock flywheel came apart like butter. But I never hear about any of them Spinning the ring gear. The 64x ring gear was heated in the oven till it was HOT, and the msd hub was stacked inside dry Ice (-109 degrees). And it still would not just drop on. I had to apply some pressure from the press to get it down. The interference fit is so tight I don't think it will slip but time will tell I will try to up date this with any news after I get it installed.
Have you used it yet? I'm thinking about doing same.

Mine was older and it was not pinned. Sorry I do not have any information, I had actually forgotten that I had done this has been such a long time ago. Good thing I took those pictures and posted it on the forum

@jo5hi3 what are the differences? any data or pictures of the 2 diffrent?
i know some are pinned, and some are not? is that it?

The newer msd flywheels have a gear that appears much different. I haven't pressed one of the new gears off to verify. Pinning the gear is a good idea especially if the flywheel has been lightened. @speedysprocket I think he has a good bit of experience with the flywheel ring gears and such.
