I plan to post another thread about how much money an MSD starter solenoid going bad cost me, and my experience with MSD solenoids and MSD themselves, but for this I thought I’d share how I replaced my bendix bushings in case and front cover in 5 mins without heat, nuts/spacers, or a dremmel. Yes, due to chain of events from solenoid going bad, but more on that later.

To replace bushings: Run a 1/2 inch coarse thread tap through the bushing, place a 3/8” steel ball bearing in the bushing, run the tap back through and the bushing will easily come out threaded on the tap.

I have a video I may upload later if anyone wants to see it.

On the McMaster Carr bushings (solid bore) I use grease and a 12mm precision ground rod and they pop out like butter. With OEM bushings with the grease groove inside, i like using the tap method.
