Their Platinum series pistons are actually great pistons and use the good RIK/Rikken company ring sets like the Vertex and Pro-X pistons use.
WSM has come a long way in the last 15 years, just like SBT has...

so can I take this notion as a "buy WSM front bearings over OEM?"

I dont know if i would go as far as saying that........it might have a good oil groove... but at the end of the day they are still a chinese bearing .........where as OEM yamaha ones are Koyo brand from Japan which you know are decent quality...

We all have to remember that the whole crank is in a fuel/oil mixture bath. The charge comes out of the carbs and thru the reeds and into the bottom end of the case. That fuel mixture gets to the bearing that way. Plus that fuel/oil mixture charge gets squeezed when the piston come down the cylinder and that charge gets forced into the bearings also.
