Request: Plan View of Ideal Set Up Wake Technique

I get the general idea of a setup wake and have tried them in the past w/o much luck. I'm sure my technique is complete garbage, but I am having a bit of trouble figuring out what I am doing wrong. I have found plenty of videos showing people doing them but, due to the perspective, it kinda hard to tell EXACTLY what is going on. Generally speaking, I'm talking about angle and radius of turns, distance apart from each other, and where you actually cross the wake. I'm pretty comfortable once I get to the wake, I just thing my 'setup' could use some work.

I was hoping one of you flat water vets could warm up your ms paint skillz and draw up a some-what to scale plan view of a setup wake. Be sure to have your ski somewhere in the pictures to give a frame of reference on size and add notes as needed.

I've attached an example of what I'm talking about that shows how I've been doing them w/o much luck. And no, I'm not drunk in my example, it's just damn hard to draw a straight line with the paint brush in ms paint.

TIA

I think the S wake is the way to go if you can get your timing right. (See diagram) The 1st turn helps mark where you start and when 1st point, 2nd point, and 3rd point come together at the same time is where you hit it. You have to be good on your timing unlike a V wake which is more forgiving. IMO

Thanks for the replies everyone. Being an engineer, sometimes it really helps to see something drawn up instead of described and this did just that. I am however a little dissapointed that no one included the jet ski groupies in their schmatics.

Your drawing is the same way I do it when I make a setup wake. I've tryed to make setup wakes many different ways and doing it like that makes the biggest wake for me. I stand all the way in the back of the tray so my feet hang halfway off the back and at about 1/4-1/2 throttle I make that U turn and I make it wide I take about 20ft to make the full turn after I make the U I gas it hard real quick to get a little distance from the turn then turn back around and head straight for the center of the U and by the time you get there the wakes are crossing and it makes a real nice sweet spot in the middle of wakes and basically what I do is do a little pre-jumpand land in front of the one tall wake in the middle of the cross wake and then just pin it into whatever trick I'm gonna do. I couldnt land a flatwater roll until I figured out how to make this type of setup wake.

The only reason I go so wide and take up so much space for the setup wake is because I don;t have much motor under the hood and it allows me to gain momentum going into the wake and gain stability after turning around. If you have a bigger motor thats better for flatwater then i'm sure you could just turn around and not even have to prejump into the wake. But it works for me and gets me around.
