my fx1 handle pole piece cover is faded from the sun. Is there any way to restore it to the original color? It seems like "matte". Did anyone find any way to fix that?

Itll take a little bit of heat to start the reaction once its started it spreads easily

I used Mayonaise on an old KDX200. The fenders were almost white. By the time I was done they were shiny green again. The oils in the Mayo recondition the plastic.

X2 on the heat gun. Been using this trick for a long time.
First off... if there is any oxidation on the plastic then you have to scrub and wash it off, (we use a blue 3M non scratch scouring pad).
When the heat gun starts to warm up the plastic,... that's when the magic happens.
The molecules start to move and the plastic comes back to life.

Ill have to try it. I've searched a lot and seen people sand it. I wonder what is best. Might just get some used clean parts instead.

Yes, anything with oil in it. I used Vaseline on the plastic on my FX1 and it looks like new.
Bumping this - I used Crisco last summer and it restored the plastic a little bit... but this spring, the plastic has faded and the crisco that got wiped on the hull has hardened... I am working on wiping the Crisco off.
How did your FX1 look with the Vaseline (assuming you still own the FX1)?
Think I am going to try the heat gun method this weekend.

I have restored quite a few Seadoo plastic hoods with like new results. First scrub it really good with a green scotchbrite pad SoftScrub with bleach the wash with soap and water. After it is really dry do one layer of Wipe New. Yes., the As Seen on TV stuff. It is the only thing I have tried from those stupid commercials but it really works and lasts the entire season. Walmart carries it.
