Some more of the reasoning to have it on the carb is there is less fuel and rubber hose between the fuel pump and restrictor, so it pressurizes quicker. Now, that's the theory, whether it actually matters with the small volume we're talking about and the low pressure, I doubt it, but of you wanna go OCD on it might as well put it on the carb.

I would put it at the carb like #1 except put it on the return nipple.
The 2nd way I would do it like Brian said with a splice connector, keep the hose between the carb and jet short as possible.
The reason I don't like it at the tank as there's too much fuel line between the carb and jet.
When the lines are that long the fuel pressure can pulse and fluctuate with the lines bouncing all around.

Done.

Chuckie...thanks again...this thing rips!

Sorry you needed to fuss with the jetting as much as you did.
Now after you posting a picture of your FS-48mm Novi, I realize now that I gave Chad spec's for a bell top 48mm Novi!
No wonder the main jet was way too rich, now I feel like...:pancake:

P.S. A spacer under the 61x airbox also would help this carb setup.

No worries! I've actually been able to get the jetting pretty dialed after a few weekends on the water. At least with where I started...there was no possible way I was going to stick that motor!

This thing has some serious grunt now. The closer I got in finding the right combination of jets...the more the motor was trumping the prop. I had Impros do their magic, and now this thing is an arm puller!

I can't imagine how this thing would run with duals!!!

It is mix of swirl and a Solas Concord with a big hub.

That's why it won't work for me. I hated the swirl prop and the Solas Concord was a no go as well.

I like a loose, slidy, nervous, twitchy rear end. (Wait, that didn't sound right!).

I don't even like aftermarket pump cones.

You and Idok are birds of a feather! Both have single carbed XS SS motors and like 'unconventional' setups. Idok runs a stock intake grate for some reason.
