Reverse jetting- how does it work and what are advantages

School me on reverse carb jetting. I've seen a lot of setups using big pilot jets and smaller main jets. How does it work, does it work better in freestyle applications, and what are the advantages?

Just depends on the carb. Don't expect too much out of your engines, bud. If they're pulling and there's no hesitation, leave them alone!
This is what I have been wondering as well. I have about 1/2 second hesitation. Granted I know I have a 760 non ported cylinder but still. Looking for the immediate snap and I have 190 psi compression, msd, b pipe, hooker prop, and 46 mm carb. I will be getting a lightened flywheel shortly but still wondering why no immediate snap?

my 650 6M6 with protec pipe uses reverse jetting
my 61x does not
I assume it is because the 6M6/Mik44/Protec pipe combo

20 pop off
7 mil stroker with 85.5 pistons
Stock ignition

Its my experienfe that tuning does not save time or money. Pick a builder, buy the parts they tell you to, assemble, give it to them to tune, enjoy life.
 
I'm doing the same right now. I am reverse jetting my 62t/61x b pipe, msd, lightened flywheel, freestyle port, 200psi. Mik duel 44s. Going to try. 110 pilots 90mains 1.5N/S. 27pop off. I'll let ya know if I knotice a difference.
