Review of Full spectrum 49s VS Novi 48s

It amuses me the stupidity some people have on these fourms. I did a back to back test with two different carb setups that were "built for my application". One of the carbs didnt work at all and the other ones were perfect.

I stated solid facts and if the facts put down full spectrum then take it how it is. support is more then just a product. Its resources and technical support also. The reason I switched over to novi has nothing to do with any drama or "falling out". It has to do with the fact that eds carbs were not working and he "didnt know why"

I wanted eds 48s because i liked those and when he said he wouldnt send me those only the 49s (same price) i agreed only because he assured me no one had any problems with the 49s. I bet if you call him today and ask if anyone has had problems with the 49s he would still say no.

LET IT BE KNOWN, I had problems with my 49s.

most of the top riders and high horsepower motors are using novi-tec.

I went from a pair of used Full Spec 48's on my 828 Lamey to a single Novi 48. The duration I was running the FS carbs was a loooong learning curve for me. To this day I wonder if I should have put new throttle plates in or had Ed re-build them and kept going. Installing t/l was the ONLY thing that finally woke my engine up after 5 months of tuning/learning. Going to the single Novi 48 gen III carb was an awesome decision for me. I put it on and 15 minutes later had the Lamey spot on in what I like my Lamey to do. I never go WOT for more than 2 seconds because freestyle comp is my only goal/riding style. I am in the middle of lookin into dual 48's from Art at the moment due to the fact that I have someone real close w/alot of patience to help me get them set up. There is NOTHING wrong with the Novi-but I ma curious if I can get more out of my Lamey, if I do by going to BJ 48's-great, if not, thats ok too as long as I don't lose anything.

My main reason for going with the Novi was-I spent 2 weeks trying to catch up w/Ed to get some new throttle plates and could not get him on the phone.(and I rode a buddy's Lamey w/stk ignition and the same Novi I now have an dit ripped HARD) I had a temper tantrum and bought a Novi-Tim takes 24 hours to respond, but so far always has. My 2 cents that in the grand scheme of things really don't matter. lol

I didnt notice much of a difference between Riva 48's, Full Spec 48's and full spce 49's. I achually prefer the Riva's though. Best bang for your buck as far as carbs IMO. :Banane09:

So, if Ed's carbs were messed up, why did you waste half a season instead of Sending them back to be checked out. Sounds like stupidity on your part.

But Hey, you got some good carbs now. Tim knows his stuff.

I tried. he said there was nothing wrong with them. That was after i spent about 4 weeks calling him every other day and leaving messages. The way i finally got ahold of him was doing a credit card dispute to which he called me the next day asking about it. Funny how stuff works

I got them checked out by most likely the best engine builder and tuner in the world. he said there was nothing wrong with them besides the fact that they didnt work right. we tore them down 2 times.

If you did that then you should have had the carbs in the mail sending them back. Looks like you issued the stop payment and then tried to sell them.... That is pretty petty. Also, Did you have your world class builder contact Ed, I am sure he has a relationship with Ed. Between the two of them they should have been able to figure out what was wrong with the carbs.

ed told me they are setup for a 900cc or so with a wet pipe. i had a 1000 with a power factor pipe. they hit good but i really just need the money to buy a house.

Uh, Didn't you post that these were built for your setup???

Also you said that "Couple weeks go by, receive a set of 48 novis and put them on." but here you said "I need the money and am just going to put my 48s from last year back on." Uh, confused here.

I considered them sold the moment i stopped payment.

Yes, they talked and Ed couldnt think of a solution. Dont you dare try to attack my reputaion. everyone on here knows i am more then fair when buying and selling stuff. Also, i have an above average knowledge about high performance skis and skis in general. You are acting pretty petty in this whole situation. Attacking someone because they had an issue with a product. hmmmm

The problem with the carbs is they are nothing compared to the novis.

chill out, I just remembered your for sale thread, looked at it and noticed a few things that did not jive...

I am just glad you got your setup right. I have been there, chased gremlins and figured it out and got it right.

Chasing gremlins could make anyone wig out. Last Wednesday night I cussed out Sherry at the lake because she didn't have her 40cal in her truck. I WAS going to shoot my ski! lol I have had about 20 bum trips to the water thinking 'it's fixed now' and come home and go back to work. lol
