Rickter Edge vs XFR

I'm looking to purchase a new hull and am cosidering either the edge or xfr. Has anyone rode either of them with a 701 limited setup? I have concerns that the edge might be a hair long and that the xfr may be a hair short. I dont want to bob all over the place but do want to flip off a boat wake and be able to carve around a little. Any recommendations or experience you had would be appreciated.

I vote for the new Edge, I have ridden both 2016 models and loved the edge but instantly remembered why I sold my old XFR as the new one felt very similar and always seemed to be trying to hurt me. The Edge was amazing and seemed like I could ride it blind. I will never be a freestyle flipper though, Taylor Curtis loves the new XFR.

Did the xfr feel uncomfortable because it rode nose high a lot? The edge just looks like a more comfortable ski which is why I think I'm beginning to lean that way. Not to mention that I got specs and was surprised that the edge is shorter and lighter.

Am i the only person that hates the Edge on here o_O...I've ridden 2 now and i find them very unstable, if i lose my balance just slightly it throws me off....Loads of people here in the UK are not big fans but the Americans seem to be loving them. I Ride a Evo with tubbies and in my opinion they took a step back from this especially in the surf, I run rings around the 2 edge riders when it comes to surf riding and i only run a 701.
Maybe they need a big motor and pump for more hook up?
I can't comment onthe XFR but in all honesty if i was to buy a new hull i'd go Tigercraft SV-1 for surf or V2 for mix of both.

The XFR didn't like to go fast without feeling skechy to me, and I always seemed to feel like I was gonna hit my head on the front, Edge never gave me that. I rode 2 edges a 701 and 1000, loved both. The 1000 had tubbies.

Ive ridden both an edge 1100cc and xfr 800cc. I only got a short ride on flat water with the edge. Didnt get a good feel for it. Its definitely a longer ski than im used to. It carved well and was very predictable. Felt like an "all around" hull.
I loved the xfr but im more of a flatwater guy. Ive ridden this in surf and flatwater and its fun in both. In the surf if flips like nothing. Its definitely looser than the edge which i like. it slides better and pops of of small wakes/waves very well. I would personally choose n xfs/xfr over an edge. Ive never ridden a V2 though.

We had the same dilemma a few months ago. We have SJ's and an SXR for all-around riding, but we wanted to learn to do tricks and do flatwater flips. For that reason we went with the XFS. If you want more of an all-around ski that would do a flip, I'd go with the Edge. As Taylor told us, "You don't really get on an XFS and ride around for hours".

Cool, thanks man.

I keep seeing people suggest the Edge isn't easy to flip. It's one of the easiest skis to flip that I've ever ridden. I rode a 701 setup in Daytona and was flipping it easily. I have no doubt it will easily flip off of boat wakes.

Well I am heading to FL at the end of the month and I'm hoping I can find someone to let me ride a couple different hulls. Let me know if you have any recommendations but was going to try Brian at Thrust first.

Best thing you can do mate, i Bought my Hull on the fact i rode a friends before hand and liked it.

I had a proto 2016 edge that Mark G used on the IFWA tour and with a 950 and 155 pump it was one of the easiest machines to ride. Even people new to stand ups could jump on it and stay up in surf conditions which would see a new rider and a superjet calling for help.
