The Rickter hulls look great, but it will end up costing about 8000-9000 by the time its all said and done... and thats the fiberglass version weighing in at 90-100lbs...

There are lightweight superjet and kawi based hulls that go for 3000-6000 and are pretty damn nice... their weight is lighter than the Rickter's by a good 10-20lbs.

The Rickter hull design is different though... question is does the hull design make it worth the extra money compared to the lightweights?

The other ski I like is the xft... does the rickter have an edge over the xft even though its 15+ lbs heavier than the xft surf version? xft makes a mighty nice hull!!

Please keep the thread in the general section: nobody seems to look in the aftermarket hull section... you can move the other one back or combine and move... makes no difference to me...

How would an engine builder know the answer? Riders know the answer.

Anything light is awesome!!! AWESOME!!!! My favorite had always been XFT but now so many options!! I LOVE my WDK Envy. But I know I would friggin love love love a full carbon XFT with Yami motor and pump.

This is a tough one. XFT -vs- EME??!! Jeesh.....both are awesome!!

I think I would go EME if I were you because they are designed (by the man!) to go big in flat which is mostly what you ride, right? And I'm sure they kill it in the surf when you ride that so best of both! And you can get used to anything so that is not an issue IMO.

XFT you are looking at SJ replihull....

Actually...thats between those 2...but if I do another it will be a full carbon WDK FX-1. Going from my current SXR tray to a SJ tray seems weird now...but a FX-1 is tiny....but I think it would be worth getting used to.

eric I have been reading a lot about hulls as well.. I think if I had to spend the money today I would get a EME or a carbon hull like aircraftsalz has. there made by the guy who made stoyer, and pats carbon boats. Hearing a lot of good things about the eme though and they are pretty reasonable price wise. I heard the first couple batches of the FS1 have had quality issues. I dont quite have the skills to justify buying one just yet... and I have hardly had a chance to ride this season..

What about the Trinity Matrix? It has that killer new hull design and you can get it in 4 different weights depending on your budget. Before you buy a taiwan hull, give Bobby a call.

Yea if you are gonna go aftermarket lightweight no reason not to go Kawi hull with SJ motor/pump IMO.......

That is what made my choice....I rode Korns and it rode great but it was a pig.......but I love Yami motors/electrics/pump so bam!

ya but... a yami motor in a kawi hull is extremelly nose light, cuz a yami motor sits farther back. which is great for flat water or someone under 180 lbs. i say try an xft hull. i rode one in virginia and fell in love and never got that same feeeling from the envy hull design. i might be wrong but i thought there are some differences in hull design from stock with the XFT. another good thing about XFT is the service he gives you a completion date and he is right on no BS with not returning phone calls or emails that you hear so much about from other companies.

XFT :cheer2: XFT:cheer2: XFT:cheer2: XFT :cheer2:

I like the idea that some companies are using polystyrene in the back like rickter and Ive heard of xft maybe no foam... maybe foam in bottles.... ???? I have to message sergio... I dont know what Malone is doing for foam, but I messaged him- so hopefully I'll find out soon along with a few other questions...

It seems to me that 2part foam in the back is a crappy thing to do on a $6000 hull that will be 10-20 lbs heavier when the foam fills up with water... and its bound to happen

XFT also has the hood seal that seems to work very well... the Q8 is made by the man though... but the comments about the quality on malone's hulls makes me iffy about them... sergio has been making great hulls forever and has a great rep...

Im toying with an aftermarket hull.

leaning towards the EME at the moment, seems a decent product for the cost, i hadnt heard the negtive comments that were mentioned, be interetsed to know what those issues are.

i have been looking for a decent used hull,i like the xft and wcf, although would be interested to hear feedback on the back flip hull, like how it is for other things than back flips.

waterdawgs looks like they have a good product and price seems right.

i hadnt considered and just checked out the trinity hulls, they are priced well, specs dont really do it justice on the web, im guessing the hulls are shorter than stock SJ?
