Rickter FS-I/FR-1 Vs. FS-2/FR-2 for surf riding.

Spent a lot of time surf riding a FR-2 today. Amazing ski for surf riding and re-entries. Lands so soft compared to my RN w/tubbies. Going to be buying a Rickter for sure.

Was curious if the FS/FR-1 felt the same way in the surf as the FS\FR-2. Anyone rode both?

i have fr1 and have ridden a few 2 s aswell both have there good and not as good! imo fr1 doesnt ride as nose high and to me seems little more stable , the fr2 rides little nose high but seems to turn a little better , both are awesome to ride though, and no bads about either, not a real big differnece to ride either of the two , fr2 is a little trickier to bolt together! and has a larger intake area, set back pump and engine location

after reading the comments of the oz crew,it seems to me you guys are not overly impressed with them,not to say they are a bad hull,kinda a nice way of sayin not necessarily that much better of a surf boat than a sj,and alot more bs to deal with puttin them together.

doesnt make sense to have a setback engine and pump for surf to me?

Fs = flatwater
Fr = surf

One of the guys I ride with has a fr2 and a 08+ sj and he just sold the sj and got a second fr2 so it must be alright .......

There is no comparison to a sj with either the fs1 or 2. They don't pearl (nosedive) which means you can put it in very critical sections on the wave. The main differences is between the two are
FS2 has adjustable engine brackets that allows you to move you motor 3" depending on the pipe you run. When its all the way back its best IMO. The pump cavity is bigger for better hookup and pump is set back 3"

There are more Ricketers beings sold in Oz than anywhere right now, so Id say they like them.
As with any aftermarket hull there some challenges to assembling them the 1st time after that they are just like any other ski
Ride one in the surf and tell me they are no better than a superjet,
and like Taylor said dam near imposable to pearl,

most people are not even going to be in tune enough with these skis to understand the true handling differences...........

as far as selling the sj to get another RRP...that just shows ya how crappy sj's handle.......nosedigcity!!!

Thats wiered...I've ridden quite a few Rickters, have since sold mine and am back with an OEM hull Superjet.

If the Superjet had a nose rocker, and some decent material making up the bottom deck, I'd be quite happy. Don't get me wrong, I love the Rickter, but they have a few issues that need sorting out before they are 100%

As they stand, they are probably the best aftermarket hull going. Some points...

- They handle the surf and flat water no problem
- They have enough weight to allow the hull to ride deeper and handle better than other aftermarket hulls
- The nose rocker is awesome for late slashes on the wave face
- They are still quite tail happy, but in a good way. The nose rocker means they turn better on the tail just like your old square nose
- They feel very srange at first, but your barrel rolls will be exactly 17% better just from the hull itself
- They attract lady-boys, and cats....both love to claw at the turf.

i actualy love ridin the rickter and would never waste my time with a superjet hull again

You don't need a Rickter to do straight jump tricks and fist pumps, I don't think you'd be wasting your time at all going back to a Superjet!
