Rickter FS-I/FR-1 Vs. FS-2/FR-2 for surf riding.

- They have enough weight to allow the hull to ride deeper and handle better than other aftermarket hulls

I was considering a used carbon FS-1. That why I started this thread. I wonder if the lighter weight would cause it to wave ride not so good. I had an XFT with SX-R style bottom and it was a super scary handling ski. Had to add weight to make it turn. Hated that ski.

sounds like some of you really like them, although Its a rare day someone ever spends big money and time on a hull and says anything neg to admit it wasnt the best choice, much less someone who deals them. Not to say they arent the best thing since sliced bread.......just saying. Ive spent very little time on a rickter,it was ok at first impression, but wasnt overly impressed or blown away like some others here say.Maybe it just takes more time on one, maybe after wavedaze ill have a better idea personally

how many of you are using a mag pump on the rickter in surf? im sure guys are trying to add weight to the rear to keep it low and planted, this may be a large reason so many say they handle so well in surf

thats my biggest hesitation on it also,Im always trying to clear the saltwater out of my eyes even with the sj,all the hulls with rocker are leaving off the bond rail in the front making for a way splashy ride,I think thats a mistake for surf use.
Doesnt look like ill be in fl till tona unfortunately

please post the install when you do it. .I'll likely have to do something similar on the Superfreak.

The splash guard attaches with two bolts to the existing rails, and three self tappers straight into the nose.

I think you all get a little carried away with the stuff the nose bit, theres alot more to handling than that one aspect.A ski is no diff than a surfboard, you dont drop in straight down the face of a steep wave and expect not to have a issue of any kind, thats what the right angle of approach is all about, high and low speed cornering, recovery time, balance, weight distribution, sticky or slick on a face, water deflection,so many more important aspects at least to me,that come as far more a challenge than the occasional pearl.those are the things I would be looking for with a test ride

How does an RRP compare to a Matrix in the surf???

i dont think enough good surf riders have ridden the matrix, or at least posted opinions on them.. ive only heard one good surf review on the hull. we need to get one out here so we can put it through the paces. i think its one of the best/most unique looking skis out there and would love to own one , but wouldnt even think about buying one till i rode one.
