Pics! Haven't seen this / my xfr does not have !

Hard to see unless the pump is removed.

It's the same as the rear scupper valve. No way could you replace it with a ball valve, not enough room.

I'm newish to the sport / fun. I am looking at getting an AM hull, and was strongly leaning toward Rickter (I mean just look at them). Anyways, need some advice. I ride 99.9% flatwater and maybe once or twice a year on the surf.

What hull? (I was leaning toward XFS)
Is year a big issue? (like SJ is there a year I should avoid?)
Should I transplant the 701 SJ then upgrade later? Or get a motor the first time around?
Any warnings / concerns before I get one?

Thanks,
Will

Everyone has to start somewhere but If I had the cash and means sooner I would have built a sick ski from the get go. Figure out your budget and timeframe and work from there

So we picked this little beauty up a couple of weeks ago. 10 gallons later and a couple of questions.

1) I had them block off the factory drain as we like to let it float while we relax. How much water should get pumped from the bilge as we ride? Sometimes it seems like a lot. Tonight I watched after a wfo rip of 10 sec and some water pumped out. After big splashes and spills, it will pump for awhile. I'll check the hoses for tightness tomorrow. Maybe I'll have them unblock this feature later?

2) where does the msd go? Is it inside of the electrical box?

3) the black rail foamy material (not sure what it's called) looks to be coming loose. I can post a picture later. Is this normal. How do you fix? image.jpeg

For anyone looking. This is a sweet hull. My wife and I are experienced beginners and this will make our learning curve much quicker.

(3) The black foamy material is pretty cheap mine is basically destroyed and I've only had the ski out like 10 times.

I am going to just live with it until winter then re turf...

(1) It's normal for some water to get in but if its bad then you have to adjust your hood latch (make the holes bigger) so it snaps tight against the seal.

Be careful sitting in the water for awhile. I'm not sure about an Edge, but on a XFS depending on the type of exhaust you have, water can migrate around and enter the cylinders.

Pretty cheap stuff if it fails after 10 rides!

I'll check the hood latch.

Good thing we haven't let it sit very long. Only a couple of minutes right now between riders. If I hung 20 pounds from the back. Would it lower the exhaust enough to be safe

Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.
