RICKTER talk

How do you guys tie down the rear of your skis'. These dont come with a stern eye. I have been using a hitch hauler. dont like the idea of a strap up and over the tray. prefer a lockdown method that pulls from both ends.

Any pics of your rickter on hitch hauler? I plan to do the same thing.

Some non rickter am hulls come with hooks on the back under the rear tray that would be nice but can't get to other side

Tray on the Edge is quite deep. I have put an additional thin layer of padding (the green one) and the long bow eye barely had some thread underneath. Rickter Edge tray is filled with foam. I put some 5200 once I drilled the hole around the foam inside the hole to try seal it as much as I can. Left it overnight and next day put the bow eye on. I also put some superglue under the lip of the bow eye and let it stick to the turf or it would sink in under the turf as you tighten it down. I hated to drill a brand new hull, however a bow eye for the surf is an absolute must.
Another thing to mention for reference, the foot holds that come from the factory are made to destroy your toes. Both of these on the pic have been cut, modified and re-turfed.
Edge FR is a heavy hull made to sustain heavy surf abuse. It also carves extremely hard. Therefore small engines are not the best option for optimum handling. I have been riding it for quite some time and recently put 950 DASA, 8mil with 148 pump built, installed and tuned by Thrust Innovations. The ski handling has improved dramatically. It comes out of turns so much easier and it becomes a lot more nimble.
I would definitely recommend bigger power for that hull if you want to have smile on your face every time you hit or slash a wave.
Other recommendations for the Edge: Throw that rubber flap scupper in the garbage ASAP and get a versiplug type. I bought mine OVP from France, but believe Thrust has them in stock now.

I havn't put tubbies yet but that will be done soon.
Whoever you order your Edge from, ask for extra soft padding on the pole shock pad. The factory piece is harder than a cement.
If you ride surf, front foot hold is an awesome thing to have as well.

Yours had foam visible when you cut the hole for the bow eye? My carbon edge did not have any. Was wondering if there was any foam in there at all.

Have you tried the ninja foot holds? I have found them much more comfortable than the regular holds. Can run them as tight as I want without smashing my toes.

Have you ridden an edge with tubbies? I wouldn't mind trying a set on mine

Probably the factory puts foam on FR or glass hulls but not in carbon ones.
I have tried ninja holds. I dont like that your feet cant get out of them sideways. Ninja holds lock your feet too good I would say.
For flat water, im sure they are the best, but for surf I am a bit scared to be locked like that.
I havn't tried one with tubbies, however i am confident they will improve the handling of the Edge.
I dont want to sound too biased, but I still beleive a properly powered Rickter Edge is the best freeride/surf ski on todays market.

P.S. I ordered mine unturfed and there were visible holes on top of each gunwales where they have injected to foam through.

I agree. I don't think tubbies are a necessity by any means but I think the added buoyancy in the front will help a little when carving hard and late on the face of a wave. Seems like some pros ride with them and some don't. I'm curious what (if any) drawbacks there are to running them

I like that versi plug I def want to run that. And I see you guys run no sponsons in the surf. I'm shooting to get a tpe 964 in mine next year. And I'm not having trouble with my toes but I run ninja holds too and I see what your saying about being Locked in. Which is find on boat wakes but surf I wanna run a strap.

I've seen the threads where people run breathers into stock pole. Just never seen it done with a rickter.

Would it work? Is it practical? Waste of time?

I'm into saving money and being practical but not wasting time ( and possibly ruining a pole)
