Riding Weight

So I'm noticing that I have a hard time pinning the throttle in my fx1 I can plane out and ride around all day in between 1/2 and 3/4 but as soon as I full throttle my ski starts to hop on the water. Am I riding it wrong or am I just being a wuss and not pushing myself I feel like I don't see others having the struggle at high speeds..

Move your body weight around til it rides flat.
I'm 280 like I said it's fine till I punch it.. Then I just bunny hop... It doesn't seem to change much at the speed when I move around, I will admit tho that I let off after the third or fourth bunny hop.. It tosses me pretty good

Longer ride plate may help but truth for the matter is you may just be too big. Shorter pole may also help to get more weight forward.

Yeah I'm sure my size is 90% of it but I'm sure in not man handling it very well either! My fx1 has a pro tech ride plate it's purple so I think it's the stock one.. Anyone know what the best ride plate intake grate setup is for the fx1

If it's a pro tech it's AM. Does it extend past the hull? If so its already an extended.

How do you stand in the tray? If both feet back try one foot forward, staggered stance.

I have limited experience on Fx1 but standup, dirt bikes, quads, etc benefit from elbows up. It's more natural to have your elbows down at your hips but try getting them up. Elbows up almost as high as your shoulders and chest into the bar, like a narrow bench press.

Like I said, limited experience on the Fx1 so I don't know about mods but I had to break a wrist on a quad to learn to get my elbows up.

Someone on here has an avatar of 2 guys racing on I think vintage 550s that shows a great example.

Back in the day I used a WatCon pivot cam on my SX750. It was a machined aluminium part that you fitted in the top steering nozzle mount. It dropped the steering nozzle down several degrees to push the nose down and help kill the bounce. Cheap and fairly effective. WatCon website has provision for it on their site but doesn't list it as available (?). Hit up forum member John Zigler. It's his business and he'll let you know what the deal is with it.

Only other thing I can suggest is a Jet Dynamics ride plate from Blowsion. The added length should help and you'll improve the general handling.

Pics show a 08-up SJ nozzle which is stock in a fixed position- that could easily be changed to have the steering nozzle point a few degrees downward

Cool thanks for the advise I'm going back out as soon as my tubbies are all molded it that I got from tom21 on this site... I did not have my trim working and honestly had it loose held down with a twisted wire probably moving around with the trust along with a few other issues to work out when I got to the lake for the first test run.. I added a few degrees of down trim so I hope it will help but I need to come up with a stronger bracket for the trim cable. My ski has a protec extended ride plate but I think those cam stock on the fx1 anyway... Because it's extended I can't get much down trim right now as it rests on the plate with the x2 trim and nozzle! Also I have tried to stagger my feet as well as put my weight forward I'm thinking the elbows up might just be the ticket
