My son wants to get riser bars. Thinking of getting one of the new steering systems. What are his options. He has a umi pole and steering now.
Thanks.
Thanks.
As long as the UMI pole accepts OEM superjet steering (and bushings) that is all you need. You will likely need to modify the chinpad a bit to clear the bars at full lock and possibly modify your start stop switch to fit over the fat bars (depending on which ones you get).Is there anything else I need. Just the cold fusion turn plate and the bars and grips.
Thanks Craig.
Umi does not use bushings it's a bearing system . If you buy a cold fusion system you will also need to purchase bushings but there cheap can't remember exact price though . Cold fusion sells everything you need to do thisThis gets harder and more expensive every post. I don't know if umi excepts stock steering.
Thanks.
I think he meant "I don't know if the UMI pole accepts stock steering".Umi does not use bushings it's a bearing system . If you buy a cold fusion system you will also need to purchase bushings but there cheap can't remember exact price though . Cold fusion sells everything you need to do this
Oh gotta Pretty sure it would but don't know know for sure. Maybe some someone else can chime inI think he meant "I don't know if the UMI pole accepts stock steering".
Did you have to modify the hole for the steering or did it go right on?cold fusion steering works great on umi pole with riser bars. cheapest option out there.
I would imagine UMI made their pole to only work with UMI (and UMI style) steering systems much like Xmetal does to force you into buying their parts.
I am really a huge fan of the simplicity of a bushing steering system and I love that the Cold Fusion setup can run straight or riser bars. I like the XM adjustable pole but the fact that I had to modify it to work with the CF steering, made me go a different direction. You can use stock or cold fusion steering on UMI poles that havent been modded over the years.
Xmetal adjustable poles were redesigned (at my suggestion) at least a year ago to include the 4 threaded holes so they accept any steering based on the original UMI bolt pattern which includes RRP, Blowsion, and most other bearing steering systems on the market.
