Rius racing tubbies???

Hi,
I bought a RN superjet with rius racing "tubbies"? I Dont really like, how the Ski rides. It will not jump out of the water, seems like planted... This may be good for racing, but Its a surf ski. Could the RR tubbies be Part of my problem, they are only about 15mm thick? Is it worth the Work to remove them and to install "normal" tubbies i have laying arround? I have tubbies II on my SN and love them...

Those sponsors should not be effecting you much. I agree, you need a short plate. That is an older race ski.

thanks for your advices.
i appreciate it.
it is defenitely an old race ski (at a minimum the hull, has cut-outs in the hood seal area for a dry pipe...)

aftermarket Ride plate was cut shorter by someone before and with a little v-cut at the end. so i thougth this could not be my problem, because it´s only sticking out max. 20mm at the end of the ski with these little wings right and left (hard to see in pics, its not much). Do you mean a shorter plate will help and make so much of a difference? on my other RN i have a stock ride plate (also experimented with d-cut OE ride plates in the past) an it rides so much different. can not belive, thats only from the ride plate, so i thougt about the RR tubbies. whats the best ride plate for a superjet in the surf?

Cannot tell what plate that was. If it was an old school plate it may have more down angle built in, around late 90's ijsba allowed a much longer plate, these may have been a shallower design. If the old school plates did have more down angle at the rear it would cause the nose to be planted more, even cut like yours. I had a protec that was d cut. My flat water rolls got really wonky with it, swapped to a more std plate (use to be an extended race plate cut really short) and my rolls got better. Only thing that made sense was the protec was pushing the nose down. Find an oem plate or swap with your other ski and see.

In addition to above mentioned stuff, I was wondering if it could have race weights up from in the nose still and how tall the prop is ?

who makes those tubbies

I did just one pair for me. These were old used broken ugly tubbies. I added a backwall (exactly formed to the hull), so they were hollow and sealed and i filled them with 2part foam for extra flotation. I also installed Inserts in the hull, so i can take them off with the screws. Finally i covered them in carbon. That was a lot of Work, next time i will by a pair. But i had them laying arround and it was Winter...
