Rn cut down handle pole

New to the sport. I have 06 superjet with a stock hand pole. I want to cut down the hand pole. How much can be cut off and what are the advantages and disadvantages to doing this? Thank you in advance for your help.

You can physically cut 5+ inches out of a RN pole. Only benefit is better body positioning, mostly for guys who ride surf and ride surf stance, but not exclusively.

Do you feel like the pole needs to be shorter? I know on some skis I ride and the bars are in my hipo and I still want to move my body forward more, this is when I would shorten the pole.

Are you running stock steering and bars? If so you shoudl start with a shorter turn plate and straight bars of some sort.

What kind of riding do you do? What other mods does the ski have?

I have the x metal turn plate with straight bars. I ride in the river mostly and rode the surf a few times. I'm always hitting my hip on the bars. I see a lot of pics on the site with short poles and was wondering what they help with. The ski is mostly stock I just has footholds tubbies and a b pipe.

Sounds like it could help, I would start small, maybe take out 2 inch and see how it feels. You can always go shorter, hard to add it back on.

I started out with a full length RN pole on my Envy, ended up -4.5 before I was comfortable. I know it's not a superjet but theory still the same.

Same -4.5 pole on my predator and I wanted to kill myself, ended up like +3 or something with the blowsion pole.

Each ski and rider will be a little different

I cut at the bottom, used Allen head bolts instead if rivets and epoxied it too. There are a couple good write ups if you search.

Best advise I can give is glue it and set it in your bracket and on your hood so you know it's straight, let cure, then drill holes. No one wants a crooked pole

I've cut from the top and bottom, but I prefer to cut from the top, it allows the pole to still follow the contour of the hood when in the down position, but you can only cut so far before the pole gets too thick to slide back into the bracket.

How mischief can you cut off the top. I’m interested in shortening a little over 2 inches. I want to cut from the top as it makes more sense to me fro take the bend out for control. Pick would help too. 2008 superjet.
