Super Jet Rn pole on a squarenose bracket question!

Yeah the whole RN pole on a square idea has been talked about ALOT, but I know that not everybody uses a conversion bracket or an RN pole bracket..
So, what do you have to do with a square bracket? Just add a ton of washers+grind/cut some off of the metal base of the RN pole? Then make sure you have a limiting rope so it doesn't over extend? Btw, can you use the SN spring? or do you have to run a tight pole?

I'm on a tight budget, and there's no way I'm going to invest 100$+ on a conversion bracket.

Any insight would be awesome!
Thanks

Basically yes to everything you said. One of the guys in our ride crew has been doing exactly that for years.

he just recently cracked his pole bracket.

Im did it easy, you need add some washers on side, cut lil rn handle pole, also im install sn spring, but planing to change it for heavy duty spring, if you have any question a can send pics

Yup, lots of grinding and lots of washers. Thats what I did, but if I were to do it again i'd just buy the bracket. Putting a RN pole on my SN was my favorite hull mod by far, it felt like a totally different ski.

What kind of bracket? What spring does it use? Gotta see some pics.

People that have used a stock bracket.. What spring are you using? And keeping the hood hooks in the same position?

The reason for transfer of poles is often ( not always ) more aggressive riding, tricks etc. which will also put more strain on your bracket....in my opinion there is only one answer do it the right way with an aftermarket conversion bracket, I can highly recommend the hazard bracket..one of the best products in my opinion, money well invested for piece of mind.....
same bolt holes, you can run backing plate, run pole spring.....

since i have the SN-RN pole bracket conversion, ill chime in. That one there looks like a waste of time. IMHO. for another $75 you get the proper bracket. heres a pic of mine, to show you how massive it is compared to that home made one. no flex, i run a tight pole, no spring, so it holds it up no problem and im still running stock length pole. (im 6'9")

my bracket also uses the stock hook hooks which IMO is much better then a strap that can slip/snap/unhook. metal>cloth any day.

If your going to do it, do it right. if it breaks, you'll end up buying the right one down the road, and it will cost you $225 total cause of that home made "bracket".

Whats the hurry? The season has to be damn near over up north, just save a little extra and do it once and right. Brackets are a pita to change out too, gotta deal with your cable and wires and crap.

Yup, watched a fx-1 go down in the Orange bch, Alabama pass b/c the hull flexed and the latch let go. Its really safe to just run both.

Yeah that hazard bracket looks super nice. I've got a full motor rebuild, + a bunch of glass work with reinforcing/defoaming/engine bay, etc, and other miscellaneous parts too. My ski isn't the only thing I'll be working on this off season :p.

I also heard that fyrhazard won't be making any more brackets.

Not to discount the hazard bracket, my rn pole went on smooth, but it seems the height of the hood hooks are a bit tall and dont create enough down-force on the front of my hood seal when the hoood latches in and locks down. Its visible by the water in my bilge and lack of indent on the hood seal. Nothing a little mod can't fix.
