Super Jet Roached to Rockered Square Nose

Well took a 6 month unintentional brake from working on the SJ hull but some early spring sunshine got me back in the mood to get itchy.

Started with laying up some 1208 flat on a table to start the foundation for the tray area. After that cured I used some pink foam to add a front foot hold onto the tray. It's 4" tall and sticks 3" into the engine bay over the bulkhead.

At this point I was still unsure what I wanted to do for tray sides but I settled on a mostly flatdeck. That's probably because I'm a little lazy/impatient at the point but also a big area to stand and foot straps in the rear just kinda makes sense for a "freeride" non race ski. So anyways made some foam as a temporary backing for the dash and foam tray sides/bracing and layed some thin glass over it all just to get the shape therehis also made the tray and original top deck 1 piece now.

Now to make drop down area in for the pole bracket in the nose piece I made last year. Foam block 9x9x1.5" thick, 3 layers of 1208, cure over night, trim and viola a recessed area.ACAAF322-2451-4ED9-B315-73C9E7D5C6F2.jpeg6EF8A454-1ADB-4EB1-8447-6D220B0B5417.jpegB3A729D6-488F-4FD1-99E1-3429E0C7178A.jpegD0301DC7-FB97-454A-9E17-F040BCCE621E.jpeg

And that's the point I've stopped at for now. I just order another gallon of resin and more glass from us composites so I'm planning on finishing all this glass work in time to ride this ski this summer if "life" doesn't get in the way.

After getting the pole mount area made I was able to connect the nose to the original top deck with a couple layers of 1208 on top.DF34EA8D-BB42-4D4D-B913-FE37D2BE0C9B.jpeg
Then I decided to chop off what was left of the bond line on the top deck. It's just a weird shape that wasn't going to be easy to blend together.

Then layed 3 layers of 1208 to make a new bond line and connected the nose, center section and new tray area together. All the glass was layed over a trash bag so that I can still separate the top and bottom.
