Rockered shortened fixsteer sj

Winter build. Shortened it 4 inches so far. Gonna do a wide lowered tray with rev footholds. Also doing a carter b nose on it. Built the hood out of a wave raider hood. Pics so far.

Cool build,
I do have one question that baffles me all the time. Why shorten the rear instead of rockering front and rear? A lot more work obviously to rocker one but it seems the benefits are far greater to me. It shortens the ride surface but allows the boat to be more flexible and usable IMO.

A stock SJ hull has a lot of area behind the center of gravity. Just shortening it gets the nose riding higher and still allows for easy high speed riding. Great mod for surf riding. Rear rocker makes it porpoise horribly at speed so its strictly a mod for backflips.

I disagree with this portion "Rear rocker makes it porpoise horribly at speed so its strictly a mod for backflips.[/QUOTE]" But everyone has opinions and experiences that differ though.

I origanally was going to rivet the exhaust back in like it is stock so thats why i cut flat but then ended up just glassing it. Im not to worried about it porpoising. Imo a fixed steer ski is a little easier to deal with it porpoising compared to a pole ski just because the body movements are a little more direct. Either way its gon a be a surf ski.

Some people have to learn the hard way. Try raising the rear of any boat without providing a sharp water breaking edge and report back. LOL.

Hi, in the process of the “same” project shortened 3”, home made rocker and fixed steer too. What did you used to remleice the cooling line?
Thanks in advance.
