Custom/Hybrid Rok hull breather tubes?

How is my ROK getting air in the engine compartment? I got no breather tubes under the hood, so the only way it's getting air is through the RRP pole tubes...Any ROK owners want to chime in?

I know how it gets in the hood but from there ??? like I said the inside of my hood has no breather tubes like most ski do. turn your hood upside down and lets see some pics...

No WDK hoods (and probably others) come with them cut/installed because he has no idea what you will be running.

ADDict said he uses only the breather tubes in the pole because the hood is so low that no matter where you put the holes in the hood you won't be able to put hose in them without them hitting the motor/pipe/carbs/whatever.

I got plenty of space between the motor and the tank, plus I'm running a spring on the pole so the tubes get squished quite a bit.

i have breather tubes in my hood... maybe its a drill your own deal?

unless the previous owner asked for a non breathing hood

if you have a dual tube pole there shoudl be enough air for your motor and less places for water to come in if you seal it up right

I don't run hood tubes. I was advised that the clearance between the hood shell and hood liner was small and that you couldn't really get the tubes in far enough to be an effective baffle for the water. Your hood tubes should stick up a ways into the hood keeping water from pouring down through them in most riding conditions. You get plenty of air through the rrp tubes.

well I will try her on a trailer, see if there is a difference in motor performance with hood on and with hood off. I do have the frogz skins on my sxr instead of the tubes and they work ok, but once that carb starts sucking air there is no stoping the water coming in.
You guys, any experience running the RRP without the spring , positives and negatives?

Hey Steve if you get a chance will you back out one of your breather tubes and see how much clearence is between the hood and the liner, please.

Dont know what you guys are speaking of. My hood is absolutely plain no holes minus some oblong shaped ones near the tank, no hoses, nothing. I get no water inside my hull i can fountain it for 15-45 sec and it has maybe a gallon of water in it and it swooshes right out thru the one way. Maybe new hood old hood? my hull is about 4 months old

Just to add what ADDICT said, the rrp will supply enough air, however the more air you make avaliable the potential for maximum power will increase. You just need to tune your setup based on the configuration you are running...In my experience they always run better with the hood off :)

Well, I installed tubes in. Right in front of the hand holds, maybe 4 inches from the hood lip, the hood starts to curve a little in that spot so the tubes point towards the back a little, so they perfectly slide in between the motor and the tank. and there is plenty of space between the liner and the hood in those corners. and glad to say, the ski is still dry as a bone on the inside...:arms:
