Rolls - how do you stay tucked in?

Started doing Inverts and attempting rolls - when I go upside down I seem to stand up and stop the rotation and it turns into a big inverted stab (the water slap on the chops is getting a bit long in the tooth now!)

Am I high enough lookin at these? - where am I going wrong?

I run a 6mm DASA stroker so I don't think power is an issue - I clearly just suck!!:frown:

I am in the same situation. I get some sick inverted stabs but I just cannot seem to get the feel for the other half of the rotation. I think I am also standing too upright to keep the spin going. It is fun but I need to move forward also.:chairfall:

I cant roll either, but everyone says to stay tucked in, keep the pole down, and look at the bottom deck of your hull. Leaning your head over to look at the hull is what is supposed to keep you tucked.

Looks like you have the height. Maybe try a very short limiting rope (for temporary) so you won't stand up?

When you hit the power and crank the bars at the lip of the wave , turn your head in the direction of the roll and look under your raised elbow , the ski will follow your head

what dangerboy said, the way it was told to me, and it took years to figure out is to try and look under the ski. Hey Jim, have you been doing nose stabs for a long time??? if so, that is why you end up coming untucked, you are use to reaching for the water like you do with a stab... I fought that for years, been doing nose stabs since 91. Really hard habit to break.

try riding around with your pole low and elbows bent chest over top the chinpad cover.looks like your not over the pole at all keeping your elbows bent will keep you foreward and low.another thing could be if your pre jumping into it your comming un tucked in your pre jump and arent goin back

Here's my tip from another thread off of boat wakes :dunno:
I come at the boat from the drivers side (right side of boats) At about a 45, go over the first 'smaller' wake then turn towards the boat as it's going past and as you are climbing the wake you're jumping crank the bars to the left and lean far forward and throw your body to the left and throttle it at the top of the wave. Hope this helps.

The easiest way I find to tuck is to swivel at the hips and bend over the side of the ski, you need to make the ski as weightless as possible.

My biggest problem is I am very nose heavy for some reason and I end up nosing the ski in instead of landing flat. I will be working this form problem out this year.

hey Mark, what ride plate do you have? I had this problem when I was running a ProTec ride plate that had been "D" cut. the problem was I think the older plates angled downwards from front to back, that is what made them handle well. forced the nose down, when doing rolls, as you are leaving the water, the waterpressure is hitting the plate forcing the tail upwards and the nose downwards. I changed by to my WORX Dominator (long plate) that I cut really short and my tail and nose started to level out. My theory, is that when the extended race plates came out, they had a different angle that the shorter plates (1990-1998), still achieved good performance with no loss in top speed. That may be why my rolls started flattening out.
